Wie Gets 500th Home Run: San Fernando's outstanding first baseman Tai hoi Wie joined the 500 home run club today at Chico's Bail Bonds Field with a booming blast in the Bears win over the Sluggers. They topped Louisville 5-3.

On his milestone day Wie had 1 hit in 2 at-bats with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

Tongue-in-cheek he told the press, "Don't tell me when I get close to the next milestone. Just tell me after I reach it. It will be easier to hit that way."

His career stats show that Wie has batted .273 and connected for 500 home runs.

Kernels Mathematically Out of Playoffs
The 2046 season has hardly been a memorable one for the Des Moines Kernels and now fans must deal with the fact that the club has been officially eliminated from playoff contention.

The Kernels have missed the playoffs 44 times in their 51 years as a Brewster Baseball Association franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 38th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2007. Des Moines last won the Monty Brewster Memorial Series in 2007.

Showing up late for work can be costly. Joe D'antonio is expected to be fined or benched for the team's next game after getting to the ballpark 30 minutes late. The Cairo Pharaohs will soon be packing their bags and heading home for the year. The 2046 season won't involve a playoff run for the club, as Cairo was mathematically eliminated from playoff contention today.
