Chicago Signs Jim Cox to General Manager Position
Even as the media debated the merits of those rumored to be in contention for Chicago's GM post, team officials were furiously wrapping up negotiations with Jim Cox.

In a mid-afternoon press conference, Cox was trotted out to answer a flurry of questions from the startled media. Asked if he could handle the job, Cox responded testily, "That's why they hired me. I know the team has issues, but look around the Brewster Baseball Association and show me a team that doesn't."

Jimmies Constable Fires No-Hitter
Is it better to be lucky or good?

After leading the Charm City Jimmies to victory, 2-0, and tossing a no-hitter over the Atlantic City Gamblers, Bill Constable didn't have the answer.

"I don't know," Constable said. "To do what I did today, I'm pretty sure it takes both."

On his big day at Trump Park, Constable fanned 11 and had 2 walks. And it seemed that when the Gamblers managed to hit the ball hard, it went right at a defender.

"That's how you get a no-hitter," Constable said with a smile. "A lot of skill mixed with a little luck."

To date this year Constable has compiled a 4-1 mark with a 1.28 ERA in 7 starts.

Life in Bucharest has been eventful of late. On the heels of a front office shakeup, the club has been pondering its future. Today, a local radio station reported that a deal has been reached with League Control 1 to become the new Bucharest general manager.
