Winter Meetings Start
The hot stove will be blazing for the next few days as Brewster Baseball Association's Winter Meetings are set to kick off. Owners, GM's, and other front office personnel will gather while players looking for a new contract will be there with their agents alongside them. Naturally, the press vultures will be on hand to peck at any morsel that smells the least bit enticing. Expect a lot of rumors to go unfounded, but don't be surprised to see a major trade or two go down as well. Agents will be looking to get their players the best possible contract and will be trying to play GM's off of each other to do so. Weak willed GM's will commit more than they should, and astute GM's may walk away with a bargain. The picture of what the coming season will look like is about to get a lot sharper.

BBA News: Winter Meetings Begin: The Brewster Baseball Association Winter Meetings, that annual exercise familiar to baseball watchers, are slated to get under way today. General managers from clubs all around the league are gathered together for three days of meetings which are sure to be dominated by contract and trade talk. The pace of dealmaking is often frenetic at the affair as team officials are able to engage in face-to-face negotiations and get prompt responses to any proposals.

This is also a reminder for teams to set their ticket prices for next season. Prices cannot change after season tickets go on sale at the end of the Winter Meetings.

Rich Young Takes Post of General Manager in Riyadh
Can Riyadh win with Rich Young at the helm?

Several respected baseball commentators urged team ownership to show patience with the new man.

"New general managers are always in a rough spot," wrote one. "The organization needs to take a thoughtful, weighted approach. It has some great talent, but it also has holes. Young shouldn't reinvent the wheel or feel pressured to make any knee-jerk decisions this early on. He should take his time and base his assessment of the club on logic."

Sage advice, if Riyadh will listen to it.

Metro Stars Announce New General Manager; League Control 1 to Run Club (For Now...)
League Control 1 and several of the Mumbai Metro Stars players visited with some school children as they took time out from a busy schedule.

The newly-appointed GM has proven he's more than just a baseball man: He's a humanitarian as well.

"Baseball is a community sport, and a general manager needs to be more than just a numbers guy. You need to get out in the community. It's easier if you're winning, but the fans need to know that you're in their corner - that you're a member of the community, not stuck up in your office all the time."

Today's Rule 5 Draft Offers Questions; Possible Answers
"I don't know if ownership will keep thinking like they have or not," said Mumbai manager Gula Afiba. "The management group has always suggested we take a pick in the Rule 5 draft if our system allows it, and it wouldn't be out of the question for them to add another player this year." One might make a case that the Metro Stars shouldn't make a pick this year and that a farm system is in place already to offer up home-grown opportunities.

"We may have a hard time finding a spot," Afiba continued, "We already have tough decisions to make with internal options. I say we, but I mean they. Maybe they'll decide to draft a bench player. The Rule 5 Draft is a free way to add talent. Not my decision, but it doesn't hurt to at least take a look at a player, even if he doesn't make it out of Spring Training."

UMEBA News: Winter Meetings Begin
For the next three days, Unified Middle East Baseball Association teams will be scrambling to meet with prospective free agents, possible trading partners, the media and egocentric agents. Rumors will be kindled by the hot stove fire, burn out of control and be doused by the hour. Some will have casualties; don't be one of them!

This is also a reminder for teams to set their ticket prices for next season. Prices cannot change after season tickets go on sale at the end of the Winter Meetings.

How come Mumbai is under league control?

Maybe a fallout of Stu not taking expansion crescents. Good thing we got some eager gms on the waiting list

Maybe im incorrect- id assumed it was stu since hes missed every export we had in offseason since taking over. Could be RL stuff. But ryhad is the red crescents. So rich (experinced gm) moved to expansion team for a new challenge - and a new gm will get mumbai. Dunno my thought @HoosierVic

Yes, Matt had said he’d given up on Stu as he hadn’t appeared, even just to set a forum or slack ID. So as you said I assume Rich volunteered to swap from Mumbai to Rydiah for the challenge of running a franchise from scratch?
