Division Remains Up for Grabs, but Yellow Springs in Postseason
The champion of the Frick League Heartland Division remains to be crowned, but one thing is now known for sure after today's games - the Yellow Springs Nine are going to the postseason.

The club's 97-46 record is good enough to guarantee them a spot in the playoffs and they will now look to officially capture the division title.

"That's our main goal," said reliever Derrick Chaney.

Aztecs Mathematically Out of Playoffs
The Mexico City Aztecs playoff hopes were already minuscule at best, but even those faint hopes have been dashed. The team was mathematically eliminated from the playoffs today.

Mexico City last appeared in the postseason in 2042. This is their 3rd consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 31 times in their 50-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Aztecs have missed the playoffs 4 times.

Pioneers Battle JL Hitter of the Week
It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Tim Battle, the Calgary Pioneers 24-year-old first baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Johnson League Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 16 hits in 25 at-bats, compiling a .640 average with 4 home runs and 9 RBIs.

Presently Battle is batting .335 with 167 hits and 30 home runs. He has knocked in 100 runs and scored 79 times.

Outlaws Out of Time, Out of Playoffs
It will not be a surprise to many, but the San Antonio Outlaws will not be heading to the playoffs this year. The team has been mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.

Before this season, the Outlaws last missed the playoffs in 2042. In the 50 years they have been a Brewster Baseball Association franchise, they have missed the playoffs 40 times. In the last 10 years, they have missed the playoffs 7 times. San Antonio last won the Landis Memorial Series in 2044.

Vancouver Out of Time, Out of Playoffs
The playoff hopes of the Vancouver Mounties -- which were already faint at best -- are now completely extinguished. The team will miss the playoffs this year, being mathematically eliminated from contention today.

The Mounties have missed the playoffs 31 times in their 50 years as a Brewster Baseball Association franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 4th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2040. In the last 10 seasons, the Mounties have missed the playoffs 9 times. Vancouver last won the Landis Memorial Series in 2000.

Gipper Kengos of the Nashville Bluebirds surprised reporters by addressing recent trade rumors.

Tchekanov Sensational, 15 Ks
In a performance to behold, Danya Tchekanov was masterful today in the Surfers 8-1 victory over the Portland Lumberjacks. He had them batting the breeze most of the day. In a strong outing, Tchekanov registered 15 strikeouts in the ballgame, gave up 2 hits and no walks.

For the year Tchekanov has compiled a 14-10 record with a 2.79 ERA.

It has been a largely forgettable season for the Tripoli Piranhas and now the club's playoff hopes are officially over. The Piranhas were officially eliminated from postseason contention today.
