Vázquez Is Pitcher of Perfection
In front of thousands of fans at The Tap Room today, Rubén Vázquez pitched what will surely be the best game of his career, likely the best of the 2045 Brewster Baseball Association season, and perhaps the best game for years to come. Vázquez was flawless for the San Antonio Outlaws, throwing a perfect game against the New Orleans Crawdads.
"I knew when I took the mound today that I felt good," Vázquez said to reporters after the game. "I had no idea that I felt that good."
Vázquez struck out 14, allowed no hits, surrendered no walks and allowed no baserunners of any kind en route to the 7-0 Outlaws victory. He retired 27 batters in a row.
This season Vázquez has gone 9-3 with an ERA of 2.44, posting 178 strikeouts in 129.1 innings.

Kings End Baca's Streak
Beirut third baseman António Baca came into today's game against the Baghdad Kings on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Kings did their jobs well, beating the Beirut Cedars 4-2 and holding Baca hitless to snap his 30-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old third baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What António did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Cedars manager Khayyat bin Luqman. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 30 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
So far this season Baca has put up a .307 batting average with 107 hits, 20 home runs and 63 RBIs.
