EBA- Year 2

Working exactly as planned. Guys who were on the Free Agent Market before we go to FA are being snapped up by the EBA.
Monty Lynch, John Rhoades, Pat Listach, Tucker York, Rye Kelly, etc. have all signed over there.
This is EXACTLY the way I wanted it to work.

How does it help to dilute the talent pool even more? Normally this wouldnt be an issue, but with the (apparently planned) weak draft classes, it becomes significant. I guess I was wondering more about what you had in mind regarding the talent of the league overall. Is it too high, and are we trying to overcorrect to "fix" the problem? Not trying to be a jerk, just honestly would like to know.

The talent of the league is definitely too high on some teams.

Yeah, it is. And it'll come down over time.
Sean- as to your point, the guys going over there are guys no one in the MBBA wanted. So, in that sense, it's working just like I wanted it to.

Lynch and Rhoades were the big names I saw, but also saw a guy (Butch Henry or someone) who didn't play ball last year, sat out, and now signed to play over in the EBA. I like that storyline.

A couple guys like that actually. Rhoades had one lucky year in the MBBA, but has been mostly a journeyman disappointment.

I think it is tres cool. MBBA teams had tons of time to sign those players.

Not with Rhoades! I released Rhoades during this last sim. So no one knew he was available when he signed with the EBA. He had a good year and I wanted to keep him, but not for 5 million a year. My hope/goal was to release him and get the salary off my cap for next year and then try to re-sign him for less money to help out my salary cap. I guess I should have re-worked a contract with him after I released him and then exported.

The EBA is a reality.
They can sign players.
We can sign their FAs too, I assume

Yup, so the rule is....you release guys between the end of season and the start of FA, EBA gets a slight advantage on them.

Hmm, how does that impact Type A (or whatever you call them) free agents who decline arbitration and then go to the EBA? Do the teams that lose those players still get a compensatory draft pick?

I don't know. I doubt the EBA would have the $$$ to sign them, honestly.

Like I said, you had plenty of time to sign him.

I guess it is pay or possibly lose, but it's always been like that. Just gotta take into consideration right now that some EBA teams are still run by the AI. It's the AI making trades and signing free agents, I think.
And looks like all of us may have to re-think the strategy you outlined, since according to the latest version, one fix is
- Players who were just released cannot be signed by their former team.
I dunno how long a period "just released" is.

Whoever was the last GM of London successfully bid on Pat Listach for me. So if he doesn't cut it and I release him it'll be for the third team having cut him at Omaha and Phoenix, is that an MBBA record ?

That would have been the AI.
