ITOTD: BBA/UMEBA Pitchers
Interesting Table of the Day... here are the ratings of the pitcher during an average plate appearance in the BBA vs. UMEBA (through two weeks).

UMEBA will probably surpass BBA in a couple years with their drafts.

Re: ITOTD: BBA/UMEBA Pitchers
Certainly possible, Recte's plan aside, but the draft this year is loaded with really good pitchers, some who are ready to pitch today. I'd be curious to see what this is at the end of the season.

Re: ITOTD: BBA/UMEBA Pitchers
Are you rereferring to ours, or UMEBA or both? Because both are that way. UMEBA even moreso it seems. I wouldn't be surprised if they catch us with this season's draft. Because they have fewer teams, their draft is both more talented and like 6-8 times as deep as ours.
It will be interesting to watch this play out. Recte's plan aside, FA could look bonkers in like 7-9 seasons fi you just did nothing.

Re: ITOTD: BBA/UMEBA Pitchers
I have not looked at UMEBA's so if that's the case, then I stand corrected. I've been in like 5 leagues over the years and I'm not sure I've been in one with a ratings bloat like we have right now.
Looking at the UMEBA draft right now and sheesh.

No we don't and I can't believe you would say such a thing. I am personally offended and my emotional well being is affected by your words. Calling my feelings pointless and overly dramatic is the most hurtful thing that has EVER been said to me.

Re: ITOTD: BBA/UMEBA Pitchers
Thanks for the chart, Ronco! Very interesting.
So recte, does your plan affect this year's draft? If so, I have been working on ranking players and I need to stop if that is the case.
Several notes about the draft, at least as it is currently set up:
1. There is no question that the UMEBA draft has higher quality players on average than the BBA draft, and that is even before accounting for the difference in the number of teams in BBA (32) vs. UMEBA (8)
2. However, it won't really affect average ability in the UMEBA majors this year that much as there are very few players (less than last year) that are ready for prime-time already. The big impact will be felt a couple of years down the line.
3. One issue is what to do about the draft in the future as well. On slack, I believe recte said that undrafted players will go to college (for high schoolers) or back to college (except college seniors). That means that there would still be a very high quality set of players for next year's draft (if nothing is done).
4. A part of the issue is also the size of the feeder leagues. There are 36 teams in the COL and 48 teams in HS (feeders for BBA). There are also 48 teams in IFC and 8 teams in OBA (feeders for UMEBA). Part of the problem with high talent (and number of draft choices) in UMEBA is that the college feeder team is the same size as the BBA college feeder.

Re: ITOTD: BBA/UMEBA Pitchers
The feeder size is definitely an issue for the UMEBA. The reason your COL draft feeder is so big is that it used to be a BBA feeder. We had too many feeder teams, and the UMEBA needed a College level, so it got moved over. The depth and talent level is just a side effect. It's also why the players you are getting from it are so talented. They were created for the BBA. That problem should be "running out" shortly, as the subsequent years players were created for the UMEBA aren't as good. But yeah, the size of your COL league should be smaller.allenciox wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 3:12 pmThanks for the chart, Ronco! Very interesting.

Re: ITOTD: BBA/UMEBA Pitchers
It will be interesting in a few seasons, when all these UMEBA draft picks from last year and this year start to hit free agency at approximately the same time, and no one has similarly rated talent in their farm systems. Should make for a couple of fun off seasons...

Re: ITOTD: BBA/UMEBA Pitchers
So it looks like recte removed some of the best players from the UMEBA draft: Here are numbers of FA players with different POT ratings comparing last sim to this sim (and this sim is consistent with the draft pool list on statsplus):
So the number of 45+ POT players have decreased by 76 total. There are still a lot (if people only draft by POT there would still be some 45 POT players remaining at the end), but now the draft is more like last year for UMEBA and the very top picks are not "as good as" the very top BBA picks. Thanks, recte! Essentially, there are now just over 2 rounds of 60+ POT, 5 rounds of 55+, and 11.5 rounds of 50+ POT.

Re: ITOTD: BBA/UMEBA Pitchers
Probably not an issue of them being manually removed but rather the fact that early looks at draft classes usually over list the players available (regardless of league) and they slide back to subsequent classes.allenciox wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 4:22 pmSo it looks like recte removed some of the best players from the UMEBA draft: Here are numbers of FA players with different POT ratings comparing last sim to this sim (and this sim is consistent with the draft pool list on statsplus):So the number of 45+ POT players have decreased by 76 total.
