Yep. One of the girls from the high school softball team is heading out next fall to play for UVA-Wise. My daughter looked briefly. Very briefly. Decided to stick with D3 and headed up to Rochester, NY.

Let me know the next time you head up this way. I dont get out your way much now that softball is over for me. We used to go play in Roanoke and Chattanooga frequently.

I live less than 1 mile from UVA-Wise. It's where I went to college. I think we are D-2 now but can't really compete at that level. Too small.

Hard to get too close to my way. The closest Interstate (i-81) is still an hour away from Wise. I have some family in Winchester which is closer to you but I don't travel your way much unless its a Dave Matthews Band show in Charlottesville. And even that is still a couple hours from you.

@GoldenOne @7teen My daughter is a sophomore at JMU, just off I-81 in Harrisonburg, so we get down that way a few times a year. Beautiful country. Wife and I spent a week hiking in Shenandoah NP in August after dropping her at school.

My mom was born, grew up and lived much of her life in Galesburg, IL - just down the road from Peoria. That was the "big city" to all the Galesburg folks.

I moved from Peoria, IL to Atlanta(Decatur is basically Atlanta) just over a year ago. I am very sorry for you. If you like minor league baseball and it ever comes back, Chiefs games are a lot of fun.
