Strange Offseason Workout Leads to Success for Brisset
Valencia Stars' left fielder, Frédérick Brisset, has not been sitting around doing nothing this offseason. Instead he has been putting in long hours building up his strength, but not in the way you might think. Said Frédérick, "I haven't put a minute of time in at the gym. Instead I've been doing my best Rocky IV montage by spending the offseason chopping wood, running up snow covered mountains, and lifting rocks - seriously. I just hate the gym atmosphere and really needed the time away from it all."

Despite the unusual workout regimen, Brisset insists he is in the best shape of his life. Valencia Stars manager, Anthony Light, agrees. "I ran into Frédérick last week and he is absolutely ripped. I'm excited to get to spring training and see what he can do."

Outlaws Dominate, Sweep Cartwright Cup
The San Antonio Outlaws have swept the Edmonton Jackrabbits and are on to the Landis Memorial Series. San Antonio won 5-4 today at John Ducey Park to clinch the Cartwright Cup.

"We're happy to have put the dagger in when we had the chance," said San Antonio right fielder Pedro Bustamante, who was named MVP for the series. "It could have been a tough series to finish if we let them start winning."

Bustamante won the award with a .400 batting average and a .438 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The San Antonio Outlaws don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Omaha Cyclones - Long Beach Surfers series. Omaha leads the series 3 games to 1. The Landis Memorial Series is scheduled to begin on November 1st, 2044.

Cartwright Cup Goes the Distance, Long Beach Prevails
The Long Beach Surfers and Omaha Cyclones didn't hold back anything in the Cartwright Cup, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the Landis Memorial Series.

Long Beach won the final game by a score of 3-2 at Vito Costantino Memorial Stadium and that concluded the series, 4-3.

"Relief is the biggest thing," Long Beach first baseman Manuel Aguilar, Jr. said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Omaha deserves credit for the hard fight."

Aguilar, Jr. paced the Long Beach offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .360 with a .407 on-base percentage, 2 home runs, 7 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The Long Beach Surfers will play against the San Antonio Outlaws in the next round. San Antonio won their series against the Edmonton Jackrabbits 4 games to 0. The Landis Memorial Series is scheduled to begin on November 1st, 2044.
