Giving up 20 runs to Jacksonville on Wednesday wasn't helped by the manager deciding that the CF Elmer Lomand and backup catcher Brian Best, both rookies, ought to try pitching for a change. We had Monday off and only used two bullpen arms (three if you count Garcia's 10 pitch, no out cameo) on Tuesday but second reliever in on Wednesday was Lomond followed by Best. Once they coughed up six runs in three innings he switched back to the bullpen allowing Davis to pitch 2.2 innings
