Des Moines Out of Time, Out of Playoffs
The Des Moines Kernels will have to play out the season without even the faintest glimmer of hope for a late-season playoff push. The club was mathematically eliminated today from postseason contention.

Des Moines last appeared in the postseason in 2008. This is their 35th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 41 times in their 48-year history. Des Moines has won the Landis Memorial Series 2 times in their history.

Long Beach Loses SS Brackett, Suspended by League
Cary Brackett of the Long Beach Surfers has been suspended 2 games by the league for his prolonged argument with the home plate umpire during the game with Sacramento at Vito Costantino Memorial Stadium. The 22-year-old shortstop angrily protested being called out on strikes and wouldn't leave the field after his ejection. It took two coaches and his manager to physically remove the hostile Brackett from the field.

Thus far this year Brackett is hitting .194 with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

Frick League Pacific Division Title Goes to Mad Popes
Sacramento Mad Popes's manager Pepe Pérez ran some numbers after all the games were played today, and came to a quick realization - it's done.

Sacramento has clinched the top spot in the division for the 16th time, and now has to be considered one of the favorites in the annual challenge for the Landis Memorial Series. A reporter from the Sacramento Herald caught up with some fans who were celebrating outside of South Pacific Field when they heard the news.

"I've always believed in this team. I've been a fan of the Sacramento Mad Popes since the beginning," said season ticket holder John Masters. "I'm looking forward to celebrating our 4th championship soon!"

Division Remains Up for Grabs, but Rockville in Postseason
Rockville Pikemen fans had reason to rejoice tonight, as the team is heading to the Brewster Baseball Association playoffs.

With a record of 93-60, Rockville is guaranteed a spot in the postseason, although it remains to be officially decided whether or not that's as Johnson League Atlantic Division champions or in a wild card position.

"We have fantastic fans and it feels good to give them something to cheer about," said closer Danny Leach. "Hopefully there's a lot more celebrating to come."

Will Barrón Leave Montreal?
Arturo Barrón of the Montreal Blazers surprised reporters by addressing recent trade rumors.

"I'm a baseball player and I play baseball. What happens off the field is of little concern to me," he said. "If I get traded, I'll get on a plane, switch uniforms and play baseball elsewhere. You have to do what you have to do."

Impalers Clinch Playoff Spot With Victory
Today, Bucharest have officially claimed a spot in this year's postseason. The team punched their playoff ticket with a win yesterday. "I couldn't be prouder of this team," said skipper, John Day. "These guys worked their tails off all season long, so they've definitely earned this." However, the Impalers manager says he won't let his team rest on their laurels. "We've still got a long way to go to reach our ultimate goal and that's a championship trophy. So we're gonna celebrate and just let this all sink in tonight, but it's back to work tomorrow."
