Arce and Flores Launch Downtown Nightclub
Wichita teammates Jesús Arce and Luis Miguel Flores attended the launch of their new downtown dance club tonight.
The glitzy new night spot, located in a renovated warehouse, is called Club Velocity. It will feature 24-hour music and showcase the talents of internationally-renowned DJs. The joint venture between the two Aviators was born from a mutual love of music and the club scene.
"We both love to have a good time, and we thought this would be a great way to expose our fans and the people of Wichita to new sounds," said Arce.
However, not everyone in the Aviators organization is sold on the idea.
"I know how much these guys like to party," said manager Al Lunn. "I just hope it doesn't give them even more of an excuse to stay out all night."
The Aviators skipper admits his statement was slightly tongue-in-cheek, but he did have a serious word of caution to his players.
"Sometimes these places draw some unsavory characters, so they need to be careful, but I wish them well."
Asked if he might be visiting the club any time soon, Lunn chuckled.
"Nah, I'd probably get turned away at the door. I don't think they let geezers like me into places like that."

BBA News: Rule 5 Draft
Brewster Baseball Association's Rule 5 draft will be held today. General managers should ensure that they have made all necessary roster moves prior to the start of the draft!
Rule 5 Draft Rules
--Only teams with empty slots on their expanded rosters can select a player in the draft.
--Players with more than 4 years of professional experience are eligible to be selected, unless they are protected on a team's expanded roster.
--Players drafted at the age of 18 or younger are protected for one additional year. They are eligible if they have more than 5 years of professional service.
--Each selected player must be kept on the selecting team's major league roster for the entire year, or be returned to his original team.
--Even if a selected player is subsequently traded, he must remain on that team's major league roster for the entire year.
Note: Eligible players are noted on the team transaction screen with a "#" symbol.
