So despite my best efforts we inadvertently simmed Game 1 of the UMEBA playoffs. Then I deleted them from the game but it still thinks they happened. Here are the results:

Hebrew Hammers Get Past Impalers 6-4 to Open R1
Bucharest designated hitter Gervasio Ridder pounded Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers pitchers at Ballpark of Bucharest, but it was not enough to keep the Impalers from falling, 6-4 in Game 1 of the Round 1. Ridder went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Impalers slip to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-7 series.

Juan Carlos Ortíz made it 5-4 in favor of Jerusalem when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with two out in the top of the eighth. The Hebrew Hammers went on to win.

"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Ortíz. "Obviously."

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow in Bucharest. Slated to start are Iván Flores for the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers and Matt Hansen for the the Bucharest Impalers.

Playoff Bound: Rockville Secures Wild Card
Rockville Pikemen fans can start thinking about buying playoff tickets, as the club has clinched a postseason berth.

The Johnson League Atlantic Division is not yet officially won, but regardless, Rockville will have the opportunity to vie for the Landis Memorial Series.

"We're in and that's the main thing. It's now time to lock up that division title," said manager Duane Whitley.

No Late-Season Magic Coming: Las Vegas Out of Playoffs
Las Vegas Hustlers reliever Elias Gregory said it is a "bitter disappointment" for he and his teammates to miss the playoffs. The remarks came hours after the club was mathematically eliminated from 2042 postseason contention.

Before this season, the Hustlers last missed the playoffs in 2035. In the 47 years they have been a Brewster Baseball Association franchise, they have missed the playoffs 13 times. In the last 10 years, they have missed the playoffs 0 times. Las Vegas last won the Landis Memorial Series in 2040.

Wild Card Clinched by Spuds
For the Boise Spuds, it's not how you start, but how you finish. That's the mantra the team is following after today qualifying for the playoffs.

"We may be going into the playoffs as a wild card team, but we plan to finish the playoffs as champions," said center fielder Félix Román. "There's no shortage of confidence from guys in our clubhouse."

With a record of 88-72, there will of course be teams with better track records in the postseason. But team manager Daniel Labrie, Jr. said his club has "infinite optimism" that they can win the franchise's 1st Brewster Baseball Association championship.

Brooklyn Narrowly Wins Johnson League Atlantic Division
The pennant has been won, the Brooklyn Robins are champions of the Johnson League Atlantic Division.

Closer Ramón Martínez said his team is a "gritty and determined" club that were poised to win the division from day one.

"We knew the day the season opened that we'd be champions," he said. "It was just a matter of going out there and doing it."

At the helm, team manager Mike Wilkinson said his club is certainly not short on confidence.

"There's a lot of belief in the dugout and in the clubhouse," he said.

Brooklyn's record currently sits at 92-69 and it's the 21st division win for the franchise.

Cravat Raps 400th Roundtripper
Louisville first baseman Yancy Cravat blasted himself into an elite group of baseball players. Today he joined the exclusive 400 home run club in the Sluggers 5-4 loss to the Nashville Bluebirds.

"As soon as I hit it, I knew it was gone. I was happy to move on. Now I can go and have some fun. It is a weight lifted off my shoulders," Cravat told the press. He admitted just how much pressure he had been feeling. "Especially every time you'd get out of the hotel, everybody would say, 'Hey, when are you going to hit it?'"

In his milestone game, Cravat went 1 for 4 with 2 runs batted in and 1 run scored.

In 1272 career games, Cravat has put up a .266 average, collected 131 doubles, 7 triples, and 400 home runs, driven in 925 runs, and scored 781 times.

Crawdads Captures Wild Card
While the winners of the wild card are never considered favorites to win the Landis Memorial Series, that's not the way Cristián García sees things.

"I think we've got the best chance to win the championship, because I know how good we are and I know how good we can be when we play well," the starting pitcher said after his team clinched a wild card berth. "I wouldn't want to play us in the playoffs - I'll put it that way."

Whether it's simply bravado, or a sign of things to come, New Orleans will be heading into the playoffs seeking the 5th Brewster Baseball Association championship in team history.

Chicago Celebrates Wild Card Win
With a position in the playoffs as a wild card winner now secured, the Chicago Black Sox are looking to prove doubters wrong.

"People are going to say we're not good enough, or that we can't win a Landis Memorial Series, but we know that's not true," said right fielder Hao Hang. "The guys are celebrating this tonight and then it's back to business and back to focusing on winning a championship."

A Landis Memorial Series win would be the team's 5th in franchise history.

No Late-Season Magic Coming: Atlantic City Out of Playoffs
Members of the Atlantic City Gamblers are left wondering what could have been today, as the team has been eliminated from postseason contention.

"You look back at a handful of games that easily could have gone the other way for us," said right fielder Juan Rivera. "We really think we were good enough to get to the playoffs this year, so it stings."

The Gamblers have missed the playoffs 33 times in their 47 years as a Brewster Baseball Association franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 6th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2035. In the last 10 seasons, the Gamblers have missed the playoffs 8 times.

Blazers Come up Short of Playoffs
The Montreal Blazers will have a "long time to dwell" on this season's failure to get into the postseason, according to second baseman Lineu Aldo. Still in the chase in the season's final days, the club was officially eliminated from playoff contention earlier today.

Montreal last appeared in the postseason in 2036. This is their 6th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 26 times in their 47-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Blazers have missed the playoffs 5 times.

Wild Card Clinched by Aztecs
The Mexico City Aztecs have won a wild card position and are off to the postseason.

"Of course we set out to win the division, but in the end it doesn't matter how you get into the playoffs, as long as you get there," said starting pitcher Denis Pham.

The team's record is currently 87-75 and they will be looking to win the 1st Brewster Baseball Association championship in team history.

2042 JL Batting Title to Girolamo L'Archibudelli
To hit .399 in Brewster Baseball Association is an extraordinary feat.

It becomes even more outstanding when you consider it was done by a 22-year-old.

Girolamo L'Archibudelli of the Las Vegas Hustlers is your Johnson League batting champion.

On the year, L'Archibudelli collected 195 hits, 49 doubles, 8 triples and 7 home runs for the year. In 125 games L'Archibudelli totaled 52 RBIs and scored 113 runs.
