This is the analysis-thinking that we've been doing with my daughter's softball team for the last year and a half. Best hitter has been batting second even though she is one of the slower girls on the team. After that. highest OBP leads off, 2nd best hitter with some power bats 3rd. Pure power bats 4th and third best hitter bats 5th.

I’ve used a variety of tactics, especially in the youth and HS game....

HS game is 7 Innings. My youth games are 6 innings but timed. One stretch I just put my best hitter first just so I could guarantee him getting as many ABs as possible and just moved down the line.
