Subject says it all...I'd love to have some piece of the Media Guide come from YOU! This is the 70th season for the league, which is a huge season.

Got a story?
A remembrance?
A favorite moment?
Got a comic?
A fun fact? A limerick or two?
Players no one else got?
Things you've thought?
A quip that makes you laugh?
A meme, Photoshop job, a joke of the day?

No contribution too small. Multiple ideas accepted.

Deadline is the day before Opening Day, earlier is better.

I think I might write a preview or sixteen.

I'll get Level 3 of the HOF done here shortly....

Almost done with my school's yearbook. Got my class for teaching recertification done this week. So I should be able to get back into writing some as long as coaching HS baseball doesn't get too much in the way.

I might try to write something for my Landis win.

As I was working through my Media Guide piece, I came across a topic which I'd love to see expounded on in the guide some year:

Can an old-timer or someone familiar with the history of the Brewster please put together a piece on how all the names for things came about or the history of the players awards were named after (i.e. Landis, Frick, Johnson, Charles Puckett, etc.)? I'm sure it's out there for me to find, but I'm lazy (as are many others) and would love a concise and complete guide (possibly with color and inside jokes and commentary).

I'll be honest, writing it doesn't interest me at all, but reading it does.

I think Landis is for this guy.

Hmm... interesting. How/why did the league choose him?

I'd have to think it's just one of many example's of Recte's nod to old-school baseball nostalgia:

Frick League - Ford Frick
Johnson League - Ban Johnson? (just a guess)
Cartwright Series - Alexander Cartwright
Doubleday Series - Abner Doubleday
Geoghegan Series - I believe after former league GM Joe Geoghegan

Yogi Zimmer was a BBA shortstop who I assume was a good fielder? Now, was he generated as an homage to Yogi Berra and Don Zimmer? I don't know. All other awards (Egan, Nebraska, Silk, Puckett, etc.) are named after players with distinctions that match the awards significance.

All minor league levels are characters from Brewster's Millions.

Since this is the leagues 70th ordinal...<ahem> anniversary - I'd like to partner with some old-timer to put together a list of players (say top 100) in the BBA History and release one (and a write up every week). Is anyone else up for it?
