Re: 2041, Award Voting Chatter
So for JL Nebraska do I vote for my guy Gilliam that led the league in ERA, WHIP, rWar, QS, etc., or Mtume with 29 wins. For Egan do I vote for my guy Ottoboni #1 in WHIP, #1 in K/BB by a huge margin, #2 in saves and ERA or Mtume with 29 wins or Huber? Could Mtume win both?

Is there a “most pitchers under 10 wins” category?

Re: 2041, Award Voting Chatter
Mtume, oddly enough, wasn’t even on the Egan ballot. I would have given him a 5th place vote just for posterity.
I assume this is due to him being a follower for most of the season?

After all that, no Daniel Pepper on the Sawyer Silk.
But he's on the Gillstrom. Vote him second at least.

Re: 2041, Award Voting Chatter
Did my JL voting last night. I really, really considered voting him first, but decided I couldn't take the award away from a guy who played a full season with 8+ WAR for a guy that played 75 games. Did vote him #2 though. What a performance.aaronweiner wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 7:24 amAfter all that, no Daniel Pepper on the Sawyer Silk.

Re: 2041, Award Voting Chatter
I remembered this thread when thinking of pepper, but completely forgot about the very first reply to it...
Not saying what pepper did isn't entirely epic, but the irony is strong with this one.aaronweiner wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2017 7:48 amOnly the Gillstrom. The other two awards are so unlikely to be won based on half a season that it's unreasonable; their half season would have to be entirely epic.
But it's entirely possible that the best rookie only played half a season.

Re: 2041, Award Voting Chatter
I dunno. I think 5.7 WAR, a 1.200 OPS and a .418 batting average in half a season is entirely epic. That's the point.usnspecialist wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 7:54 amI remembered this thread when thinking of pepper, but completely forgot about the very first reply to it...

As an example, I would have never said to do that for Julio Barajas' 2039 season. And didn't. And that one was awfully great in 79 games.

Re: 2041, Award Voting Chatter
To put this another way: if you were voting blind chalk on the JL Sawyer Silk (and it's a good time of year to discuss chalk), Pepper finished eighth in the JL in WAR and would have probably fallen off your ballot but you'd have noticed him near the top.
But you might have also paused for a moment to see that his numbers were insane if you weren't voting blind chalk.
I would have voted Pepper third, would have been completely okay with fifth, and would have been okay if he just got a few fifth place votes for being on the list. But to not be on there at all with the eighth best WAR in the JL? That's absurd.

Re: 2041, Award Voting Chatter
That is what it took for me to vote him out too. Aldo's one of the best rookies in BBA history, maybe the best position player rookie ever.Lane wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 7:42 amDid my JL voting last night. Does the Silk ballot only include qualified batters?aaronweiner wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 8:43 amTo put this another way: if you were voting blind chalk on the JL Sawyer Silk (and it's a good time of year to discuss chalk), Pepper finished eighth in the JL in WAR and would have probably fallen off your ballot but you'd have noticed him near the top.

Re: 2041, Award Voting Chatter
Not only is this the offensive era, it's also the superstar era. The difference between the top 10% of players and the rest of the league is greater then I've ever seen it here. Kinda sucks for the way I build my team(using all 27 players). But that's life.

Re: 2041, Award Voting Chatter
Also tough as an expansion team.... Trying to eye when the window of these guys will end and try and build for that. With the draft classes before expansion being so loaded, I just have to sit here and patiently wait.
Nice to see the guys I drafted with Madison having some good runs now though!!

How Gipper Kengos isn't a unanimous winner for FL Zimmer for Left Field is beyond me. Are you all looking at the same numbers? ZERO ERRORS!
