Gaona Socks 300th HR
"I wasn't trying to hit a homer. I just wanted to make contact."

That's what Albert Gaona told reporters after he made baseball history today at Fidelity Financial Park. The prolific slugger belted home run #300 in the Charlotte Cougars 6-4 victory over the Jacksonville Hurricanes.

The standout first baseman collected 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

"I guess this puts me in baseball's elite," said Gaona. "I don't feel any different. I probably should, but I don't. Still, it is a nice achievement. I did get a little excited, didn't I?"

Taking a look at his lifetime stats, Gaona is hitting .264 with a total of 300 home runs.

Guerrer Slugs 300th Home Run
The Charm City Jimmies had something to celebrate today even though they dropped a 11-5 decision to Brooklyn. The reason -- the splendid slugger Mario Guerrer hit his 300th career homer in today's contest at OLD BAY Park at Camden Yards.

"I'm fortunate to be here," Guerrer told the media after the game. "The Jimmies have a classy organization and some great fans. Homer #300 was for them."

In his 1311-game career Guerrer is batting .320 with 316 doubles, 6 triples, 300 home runs and 1013 RBIs. He has stolen 1 bases and scored 837 times.
