Pioneers on to Doubleday Series
After their 9-4 win today at Karen Huckfeldt Memorial Stadium over the New Orleans Crawdads, the Calgary Pioneers will advance to the Doubleday Series. Calgary won the series by a 3-1 margin.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was second baseman José Ríos, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP.
"I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus."
The Calgary Pioneers will play against the Rockville Pikemen in the next round. Rockville had a bye in the Geoghegan Round. The Doubleday Series is scheduled to begin on October 15th, 2041.

The Landis Memorial Series hopes remain strong for the Louisville Sluggers.
The team tonight eliminated the Nashville Bluebirds with a 7-3 win, to capture the Geoghegan Round 3-1.

Valencia Moves on to Doubleday Series
Pedro Salazar said he didn't even realize how well he had been playing in the Geoghegan Round until he was shown his own statistics.
The Valencia Stars left fielder put up a .375 average with 1 home runs, 1 RBI and 1 runs scored, enough to earn him series MVP honors. It all added up to his Stars advancing to the Doubleday Series, with a 3-1 series win over the California Crusaders.
"I didn't really pay attention to the numbers or my stats at all as we went along," he said. "I'm just so focused on trying to help the team win, that's it."

A 7-6 triumph at John Ducey Park has wrapped up the Geoghegan Round for the Edmonton Jackrabbits.
"We're off to the Doubleday Series," said Jackrabbits right fielder Pedro Huerta, who was named series MVP after his club eliminated the Las Vegas Hustlers by a series score of 3-1. "You can never take a win in a series like this for granted," he said.
