Minors rosters

Post by Fat Nige » Sat Jan 11, 2020 4:34 pm

Pardon me if I sound like I’m moaning, I may well be, but how are we on playing incomplete minors? I was always under the impression that you had to have a full roster from top level to bottom in season, but I have come across several teams that don’t comply to that. Not only in the UMEBA, but in the BBA too, there are minor league teams running around with less than enough players to fill a lineup of any sort.

Can anybody tell me if this is legal, or is it just anything goes now?

Computer fills in roster with Jim Unknowns, randomly generated 20-25 rated "ghost" players. Not sure why teams are not paying attention to their minors but there is at least that temporary solution so games can be conducted without real issue.

I don't think we have that enabled. Everyone should have complete systems. I'll take a look and send some reminders.

I might be a couple short right now in AAA, AA, A because of injuries and call ups I didn't foresee. Short A and Rookie are usually short for me until their season starts at the end of May.

Just to clarify with everyone, when a minor league team is playing games, it needs to have a full, or close to full roster. If the team is out of season, do whatever.

Bottom line though, Nige is right, there are a few out there that are not meeting the requirement.

There are enough FA players out there to sign to MiLB contracts

When I wanted a team of under 23’s for my A ball a few years back I just offered a minor league contract to everyone under 24. About 90 odd accepted so I had to sling a load back, but hey ho it doesn’t cost you anything

I admit I'll never understand leaving roster spots open. ANd, yes, every team is supposed to field full rosters down the organization.

My top 3 are pretty well full because I signed the aging guys after opening day who would accept a minor league deal.

My lower two aren’t but they don’t play yet and am waiting for the draft picks to be added after the draft to see how many guys I need to sign to fill in the gaps.

Or better yet, which of those aging vets to send down to win another rookie league title! ;)

I’m not really talking about teams like yours Chris, the ones that get me groaning is the ones that have like three pitchers and four batters on the roster. Have a look round the BBA and the UMEBA and you’ll find some shocking teams lol
