Playoff Bound: Yellow Springs Secures Wild Card

Postseason baseball is coming to Yellow Springs.

The Yellow Springs Nine have punched their ticket past the regular season, by today securing a playoff berth on the strength of their 97-45 record.

The Frick League Heartland Division club can now focus on trying to win the division, but mathematically the club can no longer be ousted from a playoff spot.

Dreadful Season Sees Playoff Hopes Dashed for Boise
They have certainly not struck fear into the hearts of any other Brewster Baseball Association teams this season and as of today the Boise Spuds are officially out of the race for the postseason.

This is the 6th time in a row that the Spuds have missed the playoffs.They have yet to make the playoffs in their history.

Seattle Storm Mathematically Out of Playoffs
Things haven't been going too well for the Seattle Storm this season and now mathematics is against them as well. The club has been officially eliminated from postseason contention.

This is the club's 2nd playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2038. In the last 10 seasons, the Storm have missed the playoffs 5 times. In total, the Storm have missed the playoffs 28 times in their 45-year history.

Noboru Gets #400
Jacksonville's 8-4 victory over Phoenix was highlighted by David Noboru's 400th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.

"I didn't see all of them out there," Noboru said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"

In 5 at-bats the Hurricanes third baseman collected 1 hit in his historic game, scored 1 run, and had 1 run batted in.

In a career spanning 1532 games, Noboru has batted .304 with 1963 hits, 400 home runs, 1090 RBIs, and 1127 runs scored.

Blazers Out of Time, Out of Playoffs
It has been a largely forgettable season for the Montreal Blazers and now the club's playoff hopes are officially over. The Blazers were officially eliminated from postseason contention today.

The Blazers have missed the playoffs 24 times in their 45 years as a Brewster Baseball Association franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 4th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2035. In the last 10 seasons, the Blazers have missed the playoffs 3 times.

San Antonio Outlaws Mathematically Out of Playoffs
The 2040 season has hardly been a memorable one for the San Antonio Outlaws and now fans must deal with the fact that the club has been officially eliminated from playoff contention.

San Antonio last appeared in the postseason in 2038. This is their 2nd consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 37 times in their 45-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Outlaws have missed the playoffs 7 times.

Hurricanes End L'Archibudelli's Streak
Girolamo L'Archibudelli, left fielder for the Las Vegas Hustlers, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Jacksonville Hurricanes today. Not only did the Hurricanes break his 47-game hitting streak, they also beat Las Vegas by the score of 5-3.

"Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," L'Archibudelli said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."

Presently L'Archibudelli is hitting .400 with 2 home runs and 41 RBIs. He has played in 56 games and scored 44 times.
