2040 Trade Deadline Mosh-Pit

Post by shoeless.db » Mon Nov 18, 2019 8:56 am

Sit back and take a bite out of that juicy trade deadline hot dog.

Let the ketchup and onions dribble down your beard.

What interests you about the deadline? Who will get traded? Discuss recent trades.

curious to see if anyone in the pacific decides to make a move to try and win the division, or if we are just content to ride it out. Even Hawaii and Vancouver are lurking with a hot stretch.

The acquisition of a bye should give Pacific GMs some motivation.

Ultimately, I'd say only 9 of our 32 teams are totally out of contention, though three or four more would need a bit of a Hail Mary to pull something off. Several sellers have already moved pieces, so--as always--the future is uncertain.

I would agree, and I think that was part of what motivated Shoeless with his Vegas trade.

I would like to make a move for an impact piece but I don't think there's any available. At least that I could afford. (French)

this is a big factor, with so few teams already definitely out, there are not as many sellers. Plus at least with Valencia and myself (cant speak for you), we are still relatively young or have a core locked into place that doesnt really make sense to move.

That's something I always think is interesting in leagues like ours that have bumped draft classes. A large existence of good, young players will always tend to depress the trade market (not kill it, but depress it), but those in favor argue it will enhance the market simply because there is more to trade. :)

This is true, especially with how streaky the Crusaders have played this year. I'm not starting five different guys in the playoffs (if I make it), so having the option to deal Mercado to add a bonafide lead-off man in Kouros, who hits well against both righties and lefties and fits well in my new park, was a no-brainer for me. The addition of Kun, who is a more-than-serviceable #5, made the deal too enticing to pass up.

Love the deal for California. Probably the biggest deal of the trade deadline assuming another blockbuster isn't on the way.

Agreed...I like it for the Crusaders both in the short-term for a pennant chase and for the long-term, assuming they can extend Kouros.
