Sending struggling players to minors?

Post by HoosierVic » Thu Oct 10, 2019 6:24 pm

Does anyone have an opinion on whether it hurts a young player’s development to send him back to AAA if he’s really struggling in the majors? Or is it better to let him go ahead and struggle and work through their issues in the big leagues?

Just curious - I’ve got one guy who really fits the description. He did well in the second half of last season, but is really gacking things up so far this year. Wondering what I could do to help him ...

I would give it more time, but send him down if you think he could benefit from it, if he has more points to develop into. I’m calling up a guy early this next sim. Not done developing but his ratings seem to show that he can be productive in the bigs. He’s done well in the minors too. It’s a tough call, but if he’s already done we’ll in the majors before, I’d keep him there and let him work through it.

At 100-150 AB's, I have no problem using that as a sample size to call up or send down someone. I know I've seen people mention you don't want to send people down on the way up the ladder but I do it whether its ML to AA or A to SA. Not sure if confidence is a thing in OOTP, but it's good to let them go get hot and get there morale back in order.
