It's very important for the Pacific to get better and start beating some of my Heartland rivals.
I tried, but Omaha 1-runned me for a whole damn series

This game frustrates me. I have 2 players with 9 contact. One is hitting .247 and the other .235.

On the plus side Gualtiero Crisci bumped some more. He has gone from a 4th outfielder to a borderline star in a little over a season.

Tell me about it 9 contact, 10 AvK hitter hitting .182.

Ramos and Vega are both very young. They'll likely stabilize--though it's certainly possible they are on the very low part of their development curve.

Vega hit .284 in 120 plate appearances last year. You could be right about Ramos. I'm probably going to send him down for a bit. I'm scared to death he is going to lump away though. He went from 80 pot to 40 despite still being 9/9/8/5/6 against righties.

They also have running speeds of "2" so it's not like they are going to be legging out any singles. A Boston Dynamics robot at the plate who can't get out of the box can hit as many line drives as he wants but he's not likely going to rack up the hits.

Plus Vega has 8 HR and OPS+ of 112...not sure there's much to complain about a 50 rated player.

OH, AND WE'VE PLAYED UNDER 40 GAMES.

The following players have had streaks of 0-for-16 or worse in their career: Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, Tony Gwynn, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams. Wade Boggs hit .259 for a season in the middle of his career. Roberto Clemente hit .253 in his third year. The difference between a .250 and .300 hitter is one hit per week. One hit! Per week! One extra lousy duck fart finds grass or a grounder away from the shift makes its way through every six games or so. There are going to be variances season to season, and certainly from one week to the next.

Both these guys have large splits, so are not 9 contact in that full spectrum of AB. But, in general, a .320 hitter has about a 25% chance to hit .284 or less in 102 AB (which is what Vega had). Add to that for however many AB he had against LHP. That said, Vega can actually hit lefties a bit, so the impact of splits shouldn't be huge there.

That same .320 hitter has about a 15-20% chance to hit .247 or less in 83 BA--which is what Ramos has against RHP. He's not so good against LHP. Ramos also has the artificial issue that his AVK is only mediocre, and will -- in my humble opinion -- likely under-perform that contract rating at least a little bit.

Great pull, Ron...my brain forgot about that line but my sub-conscience clearly didn't!
