Morales Raps 400th Roundtripper
Valencia defeated Omaha today 6-5 and took some of the joy out of Emílio Morales's 400th career home run.
"I just wanted to get a good swing on the ball all day," Morales said. "And I did."
Despite the loss, it was a good game for the 30-year-old Hawks second baseman. He had 1 hit, scored 1 run and had 1 run batted in.
The Stars manager said, "You could see he was aggressive up there. The worst thing we did was throw him a strike. It probably would have been better if we threw the ball outside of the strike zone every time he came to the plate because he seemed like he was in a hurry to get it over with."
For his career Morales is hitting .289 with 400 homers, 1045 RBIs and 1469 hits.

Mace Lives Humble Life: Maxence Mace says there are more important things in life than money and possessions and he's certainly living proof of that.
Despite being a professional baseball player, the Charlotte Cougars starting pitcher lives an incredibly low-key life.
"When I signed my first pro contract I didn't go out and splurge, I bought a used car," he said. "I still live in a pretty small apartment and I am not one for anything too flashy."
Mace said he's seen too many pro athletes blow all their money, or take their success for granted, which is why he likes to live life humbly.
"You're always one injury away from having your career cut short, so dwelling too much on money is never a good thing," he said.

10-2. For everyone hoping we would go 162-0, I'm sorry to disappoint you.
Big extension on Thealer this sim. Love the guy. Him and Raider give this team a special quality, in drawing walks, that we didn't have much of. We're sacrificing power this season though, so we'll see how that goes over. I would like to keep Machiavelli for his exceptional defense, but I don't think it's going to happen.
