I'll make 1 push for a Madison guy in 1 award.....

Niccolo Machiavelli for Zimmer Diamond Glove in CF.

At first glance the obvious choice would probably be Wilson Ford since he led the FL in ZR at CF. But don't ignore the fact that Machiavelli led the entire Frick League with 27 assists from the OF. And by lead the league, he beat ALL OTHER OFs by 3. The next closest CF had 20.

How is Julio Barajas not on the ballot? That's absurd.

Nah, it's cool. No one looks at all-stars or awards when voting for the HoF, so the voting is all really irrelevant, right?

One of these years we all need to get together and vote for the players on teams that hand out ludicrous award bonuses just to get a player to accept a low-ball offer. You know, the ones that have 4-5 million silk or Nebraska bonus.

Is that allowed now? Admittedly, I didn't look, but there used to be a rule against that. I wonder why the rule was changed. We can easily game contracts if there's no restrictions on them. Maybe it's too hard to police.

Players don't weigh these kinds of bonuses much at all. To the point that they often don't even weigh easy to reach bonuses well, and make clearly dumb decisions by leaving them on the table.

It would be nice to see all the bonus clauses given, though. They are hard to track as far as I can tell.

I agree with that for when players are opting out, but you don't believe players are accepting offers based on the bonuses? I've always thought the total overall value of the contract was the driving factor in whether a player accepted a deal or not. Maybe it's not weighted as much as guaranteed money, but I've definitely submitted a better guaranteed money offer just to see a player go to another team with a better overall value offer. That is mostly far in the past though. I haven't done too much in FA since I've been back. Maybe the last couple versions of OOTP have been better with that?

I usually add bonuses to contracts. Frankly it is more realistic. All star and award bonuses of a few hundred K. I will give IP bonuses or PA bonuses that are a bit higher particularly if a guy has an injury history. Again realistic. It can get a guy to take less salary, but by maybe a million on a $10+ mil contract. I think as long as the $ amount and the performance numbers are reasonable there is nothing wrong with it.

For instance 150 IP for a SP or 400 PA for a starting hitter are reasonable and a team should expect a player to hit those numbers unless injured. Now offering that same package to a reliever or backup would be wrong.
