WTF is up with my schedule...?

Post by jiminyhopkins » Mon Aug 12, 2019 12:27 am

I have a question for the cool kids in OOTP land.

Can anyone tell me why Phoenix is scheduled to play FOUR double headers in the span of 10 days (Aug 23 to Sept 1)??

In what universe is that considered a good and fair schedule?

Is there a way to get an extra man on the roster for the double headers like MLB does?

Just wondering. Don't take this to mean that I care or anything.

They come from earlier rainouts.

Hate to be the bearer of even more bad news, but you have another double-header on 9/8 too!

I might be recalling something wrong, but I thought I read in the forum or heard on a podcast that Mexico City got a lot of rain-outs, so I assumed with them being in your division, that was the cause...but it looks like all but one of your double-headers ARE AT HOME. IN BEAUTIFUL PHOENIX. Maybe by 2039 weather forecasters are able to anticipate unplayable heat waves and dangerous incoming haboobs?

Very odd...

See? Everyone bitches about my rainouts but am I really the problem? Last season, Vegas rained out enough they had to play a regular season game in October and now Phoenix has the 'Mexico City Special' with 14 games in 12 days and 2 more double headers on the docket in early September. #buildaroof

On a side note, Sean, I fully believe that if your team is playing well you can't have too many games.

The problem with Phoenix is that their pitchers can't stay healthy pitching once a day. Twice... The whole staff is going to be in the TJ office the next day.

No it was definitely Phoenix, spring break 1998. Also on that same trip I went to Cooperstown thinking it was related to the HOF. That was how 11 year old me got introduced to Alice cooper....

Hmmm...snow can really fall in the altitudes in Flagstaff (and the Catalina Mountains near Tucson--where they get it often enough there's skiing business), but in all the histories I find Phoenix has never had more than an inch of snow at any one time.

Example: http://southwestweather.com/wx/wxsnowhistory.php

I personally had a major snow incident driving out of Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon to Phoenix back maybe 25-years back.
