Jacksonville Hurricanes: 3B David Noboru was injured in a collision at a base. The Diagnosis: Recurring back spasms. He's expected to miss about 8-9 weeks.
And the hits keep coming. Still, somehow in playoff contention but losing Noboru is going to hurt.

I can't look to see if he was a useful player for you right now, but he's a prime example of why you set a player (at least the useful ones) to sit even for minimal DTD injuries. Gets hurt with a sore elbow and 2 days later, blows out his rotator cuff.

Re: 2039, Sim #17 Chatter
I would just argue that he's very injury prone (the sore elbow was his 4th sore elbow/shoulder injury in 2 years, and it was his 2nd torn rotator cuff in a calendar year) and OOTP has the stupid insta-career ending injury mechanic. He wasn't 'playing through injury' when he tore his rotator cuff almost exactly two years ago.

Re: 2039, Sim #17 Chatter
Yeah, on the whole I'd prefer the career ender to at least be handled differently. At 22 he shouldn't be announcing his retirement that day. I could see him going through surgery and then saying he's done--especially after his second.
On the whole the injury system itself seems to do a decent enough job of managing this as is for most big injuries, so the pure CEI isn't really necessary. That said, I think the idea of an older pitcher getting hurt and giving a tearful goodbye shortly thereafter could work.
Regardless, the mechanism today (and since all time) is just jarring.

It would probably be a good idea to set the "bench if DTD" setting for highly injury prone players in order to keep it out of the manager's hands.

This happened to me many many seasons ago with Sinclair Kooijman (I believe it was him since I had like 3-4 CEIs in about a 1-2 season span) but he got injured and had a time frame of return. Then suffered a set back. Then announced later it was a CEI. Took about a season worth of time.RonCo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 12:40 pmYeah, on the whole I'd prefer the career ender to at least be handled differently. That is the way it worked in versions 17 and 18. But I think with the injury changes last year, the insta-CEIs have made a slight comeback.7teen wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 12:47 pmThis happened to me many many seasons ago with Sinclair Kooijman (I believe it was him since I had like 3-4 CEIs in about a 1-2 season span) but he got injured and had a time frame of return. We've been having one CE a season for the last three out for seasons at least.
