Re: 2039, Sim #4 Chatter
I just want to point out that we have $15m to play with this year still (which could be closer to $25m if we cut dead weight), plus $15m next year (which is really somewhere between $30-50m when you include team options and arbitration offers that will not be executed), and we don't have anyone of significance hitting free agency until 2043.ae37jr wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 9:41 amMy owner is an idiot. He asked me to acquire a Silk winner, so I did. Not only does he not even acknowledge Balderas, but he says the closest match(in Yellow) is Carlos Garcia. In what world do you even mention Garcia and Silk in the same sentence?
A lot of craziness going on in Brooklyn right now. I have no clue how we are winning so many games. 15-10 when our starters are 0-8 with a 7.67 ERA. How is that even possible? And it isn't our bullpen and bats picking up the slack either, they are both below average.
Overall, I like the direction the Johnson is taking. Rockville and Jacksonville both took a couple of baby steps back and a lot teams got at least a little bit better. Last season was boring as hell. You could name the playoff teams before the season started. This year it will be a dog fight that will stimulate the trade market towards the deadline.

I was talking this year, not long term. $15 million to spend this year is just kinetic energy. Until you actually spend it, it's all hypothetical. And at this point, there isn't much to spend it on anyway. So I think baby step back from last season is accurate. I know you've won with crap pitching before. I know you are leveraging the pen, And I know your second in starter ERA right now. I just think your rotation is really bad and you're not going to run away with the division like last year. Though you may still win it.udlb58 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 8:52 pmI just want to point out that we have $15m to play with this year still (which could be closer to $25m if we cut dead weight), plus $15m next year (which is really somewhere between $30-50m when you include team options and arbitration offers that will not be executed), and we don't have anyone of significance hitting free agency until 2043.ae37jr wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 9:41 amOverall, I like the direction the Johnson is taking. I think by baby step back he means you'll have your division wrapped by the second week of June instead of the end of May and may have to sweat a bit down the stretch as your lead dwindles to a paltry 19 games in the last week of September.ae37jr wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 9:45 pmI was talking this year, not long term. $15 million to spend this year is just kinetic energy. In all seriousness though, New Orleans is not a team to be trifled with this year. Jim got it flipped pretty quick and will be in your grill all season.

I am going to (likely) lose Delgado and Gillstrom this offseason. But that leaves me with only $67M of committed salary. Add in the 5th best farm system (per OOTP's terrible rankings), and a AAA squad who are filled with a bunch of good young guys who are itching for PT now (I'm looking at you Lacerda, Pacy, Omandi, Rangel and Luna), Should be a good dogfight the next few years (except I cant recall if we are both going to the Frick or not)!udlb58 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 8:52 pmI just want to point out that we have $15m to play with this year still (which could be closer to $25m if we cut dead weight), plus $15m next year (which is really somewhere between $30-50m when you include team options and arbitration offers that will not be executed), and we don't have anyone of significance hitting free agency until 2043.ae37jr wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 9:41 amMy owner is an idiot. Of course, it wouln't be a real season unless Phoenix lost a starting pitcher for at least 3 months.

No, we split up. But in your place I pick up Brooklyn and Rockville.....yay.JimBob2232 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 8:29 amI am going to (likely) lose Delgado and Gillstrom this offseason.
