I really like the Juan Rodriguez pick just after me. I would have went for him over Uribe, but he was impossible to sign :\

Without game access at work, these rounds go too quick for me to prepare properly at home so I'm flying by the seat of my pants on signability.crobillard wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 2:39 pmI would have went for him over Uribe, but he was impossible to sign :\

Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
So the top few guys on my list for rd 5 are pitchers. I have drafted four pitchers so far. At what point do I say "screw it" and try to go 20 for 20?

Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
There are 9 Jose Rodriguez's and 9 Juan Rodriguez's in this draft. Alan nailed it. The reason this draft is as deep as three draft classes is because it IS three (or more) draft classes.
There are 90 or so Rodriguez's in total. You could almost fill out an entire organization with the Rodriguez's in this draft.

Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
You think the added UMEBA has to do with it? I mean, we just went through the cross waivers issues. It seems the game thinks the UMEBA think it's in the BBA. So it probably created players to make up for it. I read Alan mentioning the amount but can't remember if he brought up this as a possible reason.Ted wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 7:27 amThere are 9 Jose Rodriguez's and 9 Juan Rodriguez's in this draft. Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
I'm not sure. Recte and Ron are better at answering this, but I'm a know it all so I'll take a crack at it anyway. I think the answer to this is no. I believe the feeder classes are made a couple seasons prior to the draft. So this group has been around for awhile now. But maybe a bunch of players got added to it? Dunno. I hope the GB people let us know when they figure it out because it is curious.bcslouck wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 7:37 amYou think the added UMEBA has to do with it? Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
That's what I'm getting at. Even though we have feeders, I think the game will still create players. It's probably not hard to figure out in game. Just filter what players haven't played a game or have played under a season worth (like 50) and see when they were created. If that isn't it, then the settings probably need to be checked for how many rounds are created. Those are the only things I can think could be the issue. But knowing OOTP, it's probably something else.Ted wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 7:54 amI'm not sure. Recte and Ron are better at answering this, but I'm a know it all so I'll take a crack at it anyway. Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
What is a normal class size anyway? This one is 6200+, which seems a tad much. I think the game still auto picks a few rounds for us after rd 20 (rd21-25) and if that's the case we can still only draft around 10% of the players in this class.

Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
More fun with numbers. There are more players in this draft class than their are currently in organized BBA baseball. (30 players x 6 levels x 30 teams = 5400 players). When you add in the UMEBA teams, you could still make every player on a team in both leagues vanish and fill out every roster with this draft class. Where's Thanos when you need him?

Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
My other league just had a draft with 2884 players. 24 teams and 20 rounds. So less than half. Still a lot, but you have to figure a percentage of that group is HS players who are impossible or just aren't good enough yet and go on to college. I would think ideally for 20 rounds, you want 1000-1500 players. That's probably still a little high but given the draft preferences of each GM, it may be good to have a little diversity.

Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
The 1000-1500 number is kind of where I was, too. The other question is how do all those leftover players affect development and the playable talent pool overall. If you keep having bigger drafts, closer to 2000 than 1000, do you just build up more and more garbage? Does that factor into development? Maybe that's the reason for ratings creep. More players with the same percentage of 80 grade guys means a more talented big leagues, and the process compounds itself with each over sized draft.bcslouck wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 8:10 amMy other league just had a draft with 2884 players. 24 teams and 20 rounds. So having smaller drafts for a while and shrinking the active player pool can reverse the process. That really wouldn't be fun. Does the game have a "keep this many active players" algorithm and just auto-retire a portion of these guys and knock out more older players to keep a stable number? Or does the FA pool just balloon forever?

Re: 2038, BBA Draft Chatter
Following the math of the OOTP manual, we should have 93 feeder teams.
So (28*20)/6 = 93.33 and we round down to 93. We have 120 if I'm getting all the feeders. Doesn't seem like that would be the issue considering we've had the same amount (I assume) for awhile now. At max, the feeders are putting 243 viable players more than needed. Assuming that the feeders are 25 team rosters, 9 players is 36%. If I'm doing my math right, that's 675 added total players. So the (28*20)+675 puts us at 1235 players. That should be perfect. So I'd say the current feeder setup is correct. Unless these teams have 50 players or more. I did not check that.OOTP Manual wrote:Next, decide on the number of feeder teams you will need to populate this draft. Each feeder team produces 6 to 9 players for the draft per year. Taking the number of players needed for the draft and dividing by 6 gives you the minimum number of feeders you need. The guideline here is:
# of feeder teams needed = (number of teams in parent league x number of draft rounds)/6
