Nine McNeill Hits 300th Homer
Lucas McNeill hit a historic home run today -- career blast number 300. "I am happy to be in such elite company. It has been quite a ride so far," McNeill said after the game.

The Nine second baseman went 3 for 5 with 1 home run and 1 run batted in as the Yellow Springs Nine won 9-5 over the Des Moines Kernels.

Looking at his career stats, McNeill is batting .301 and has totaled 300 home runs.

Division Remains Up for Grabs, but California in Postseason
Celebrating a playoff clinch never gets old, according to Miguel Ramos of the California Crusaders.

"I could do this each and every year," the starting pitcher said as he celebrated his team officially having clinched a playoff spot. "It's why we play the game - to get to the playoffs and have a chance to become Landis Memorial Series champions."

The Frick League Pacific Division club has a record of 91-57 and will be seeking the franchise's 4th Brewster Baseball Association championship.

Gamblers Hit 'Tragic Number'
A lot of people have heard of the magic number; the number which tells you how many games your team needs to win to clinch first place in the division.

The opposite of the magic number is the elimination number or the "tragic number," which is the reverse of the magic number. It's the combination of losses and wins by the front-running team for a team to be eliminated.

The Atlantic City Gamblers have hit that number today and are therefore out of contention to make this year's playoffs.

It's all about playing for pride now. The playoff hopes of the Atlantic City Gamblers were officially and mathematically vanquished today.

Before this season, the Gamblers last missed the playoffs in 2035. In the 42 years they have been a Brewster Baseball Association franchise, they have missed the playoffs 28 times. In the last 10 years, they have missed the playoffs 5 times.

The Louisville Sluggers have spent much of the season on the outside looking in at the playoff race. They will be permanently on the outside now, after being officially eliminated from contention today.

This is the club's 3rd playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2034. In the last 10 seasons, the Sluggers have missed the playoffs 3 times. In total, the Sluggers have missed the playoffs 28 times in their 42-year history. Louisville has won the Landis Memorial Series 2 times in their history.

Side note. I lol'd seeing back to back rainouts in the Rockville/Mexico City series. Rockville ends the season with a 13 game homestand and has homefield advantage just about locked up in the Doubleday. Now, instead of a first round bye, they have to travel to Mexico to play a doubleheader that is meaningless to them. Better sit the regulars and don't let your players drink the water.
