2000th Hit for Moreno
It was a great day for Fernando Moreno of the Long Beach Surfers -- but not a perfect day. He became the latest player to reach the 2000-hit mark, but his team lost the game. The 35-year-old first baseman got his hit in Long Beach's 5-4 loss to Vancouver.
"It was a very special game for me, but not a good one for the team," said Moreno after the game. Commenting on his achievement to reporters, he told them, "2000 hits are a lot. It puts you in a very select group. You have to hit well over a lot of seasons to do this. It's a good feeling to have your name in the record books with the other guys who have reached this level."
He finished the day with 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
Moreno has 2001 career hits with a .264 batting average and 548 home runs.

Here is something new(for me at least). Got an e-mail from an injured player and he said he is AHEAD of schedule and a month got chopped off his injury time. Of course it's the least important of all my injured players. But beggars can't be choosers.

Injured (Radial nerve (elbow) decompression surgery), out for 5 months. (so he'd be back by 8/10 ish)
He's now out for 4 weeks which would take us to 7/8 ish.

1-5 sim for the Goats. Losing one to Rockville and both games of a double-header in Vegas....I get it. Losing 2 of 3 to Huntsville at home is not acceptable (especially since I didnt have to face Peithner.) Apparently the Goats dont like playing at Les Paul Field this season. 10-14 at home and 19-17 on the road. They better figure it out soon though if they expect to make the playoffs. At least attendance went up nicely after Arreola showed up. (Still tweaking that by the way; almost at the sweet spot I think.)
