I wish he was better developed, but potential wise Dooley checks a ton of boxes for what I look for in a pitcher. Looking forward to him being a bust.

I'll take him if you dont want him Stever. That should guarantee he'll be a bust.

I have the same fear with Miyamoto. My track record with drafting pitchers is not good. But when you have zero pitching in your Farm I guess you have to build from somewhere.

Though I feel drafting hitters is always safer.

I usually agree, but they were mostly LF, 1B and DH in the pool. I found one guy that can play 2B, but he was a RHer and I couldn't justify using my first pick on him. Maybe the next one if he's still around.

He was the top guy on my list when you picked him. Should be good in your park. After him I was hoping that Jorge Aranda would slip but Des Moines grabbed him. So now I go with 1B/DH/poor OF or SP that is more of a gamble. There are a couple of sleepers that I hope make it to my #2 pick but this league is too smart to let that happen.

aranda could be serviceable in center, but he could be an elite 2B defensively

I really like my pick of Angel Gonzalez. He's got the work ethic and a decent slot price, otherwise I would have gambled on getting Aranda or Cortez. I can't really afford to spend too much on draft picks right now.

He’s a solid pick. Can’t go wrong with a 10 contact guy that can actually play the field.

This was an odd pick for me because of the unique situation I put the team in. Beyond deciding on team need or BPA. I first had to decide if I was going to use the pick as an immediate trade chip, as part of the rebuild, or perhaps even an already developed player who could play in the BBA right now(only one of those). I also have a very limited budget to sign picks with. Should I splurge on pick one and penny pinch the rest... or spread it evenly.

In the end I decided that Cortez would be a substantial enough trade chip to bring in something nice. Whose got a superstar on expiring contract they are willing to deal?

Happy New Years Y'all!!

I sure miss picking in the Top 5. But at least Twin Cities draft slot isn't the same as our Power Ranking like another team in our division... :pickles:

Lol... Sorry Ron, had to do it. Though I'm guessing 2037 is going to be a one year rebuild before bouncing right back for Yellow Springs.

All of these MFers are "extremely hard" for me to sign. So just took best LHB power hitter left. Oh well.

I noticed a ton of players have "slot" as a demand, but "extremely hard" as signability. That seems like not too bad of a position to be in, to be honest. It's the guys that want 6M and are extremely hard that worry me.

I fear it's a sign of corruption in the file. It has happened in other leagues and forced them to reboot.

Reboots (specifically inaugural drafts) are pretty fun, though.

Curious, was anyone else eyeing Jaramillo in the 1st? I argued back and forth with myself on whether I should take him now or wait until the 2nd.

I wouldn't have, but there's at least a couple good reasons I can think of to take him in the first.

I would have passed, but i avoid relievers in round 1.

He's going to be SP converted. Should stay 8/8/9 POT with a 5 cutter as the 3rd pitch.
