Roseboom was the only guy on my list of 6 at 29 who I was even considering. I like him but he has lumped a bit already and that worried me.udlb58 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 05, 2019 10:00 amPretty happy with our first two picks. Arredondo's defense at 2nd is a bit of a question, but if it holds up he could be a steal this late in the 1st. If not, then he should still be a useful 1B.
At first, Roseboom doesn't look great. However, a lefty with high stamina (and hold runner), no changeup, and a cutter all make him a very attractive starting pitcher. Thinking he could be a solid #3 if he develops to his current potential.

Re: Draft Chatter
Not bad. I hate all these MRs though (although I should be happy since my farm is lacking MRs).
I wonder if more of these guys will develop 3rd pitches.

I like the Long Beach pick of Avila. I debated heavily between Avila and Juilo, but eventually went with Julio.

Re: Draft Chatter
Thanks. Julio is good, but I actually preferred Avila because the EYE talent has been so hard to find in the drafts lately.JimBob2232 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 05, 2019 10:48 amI like the Long Beach pick of Avila. I debated heavily between Avila and Juilo, but eventually went with Julio.

Re: Draft Chatter
Houston's one of those second rounders you punt if you have no money, which I don't. Still, I need to start drafting relievers for a pipeline soon.
Also I really like him.

Re: Draft Chatter
I probably would have taken Houston if he was still available. Lots of interesting pitchers around, though. I'm happy enough with Contreras. Good intangibles.

Re: Draft Chatter
Also like Silva.
Really like the idea of making both Houston and Silva reliever conversions down the pipe if it works out that way.

Re: Draft Chatter
I think he'll be pretty good as-is - I liked him. If he was 6/7/9 instead of 7/6/9 or a LHP I would've snagged him in the 2nd. Real well developed for a young 17 year old (59.1% of his POT according to my spreadsheet), too.crobillard wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 11:31 amHoping for a bump or two on Alvarez. That should make him a serviceable SP

Re: Draft Chatter
Draft another 1b/OF that'll sit in the farm?
Draft a guy at a position of need that may or may not make it?
Draft a dozen relievers and hope some of them pan out?
Looks like I've gone with option 3. Took David Bates over another guy I had a little higher on my list because Bates is a lefty. Maybe I get that "magical" extra pitch added at some point and he can start. Highly unlikely.

Re: Draft Chatter
Well, I was asleep and did not hear the slack notification. The player I picked isn't bad but the slot bonus might force me to not sign him. Learned the hard way and will make a list. I usually make a list for another league I'm in but I've just been procrastinating.
