BBA Pitcher Ratings
This counts all the players who are in the majors right this minute, I think. Thought it might be interesting to folks...

Re: BBA Pitcher Ratings
Pretty much confirms that 6 is the "new normal" as far as movement goes. Interesting that 9 is right there with 8 as far as stuff goes.

Re: BBA Pitcher Ratings
8/6/7 is an 'average' pitcher? I feel like a RH RP with that line would get murdered.

Re: BBA Pitcher Ratings
Pretty much what I expected. I wish it were a more even distribution. Ron, are these a mix of SP and RP. I assume so. I would be interesting to see this broken down by those categories separately. I don't know how hard that is to do. As per Kyle's remark, most of your 8/6/7 righty RP's aren't going to be anything more than filler.

Re: BBA Pitcher Ratings
I'll try to do some other cuts on SP/RP and handedness...but here's a quick bit of data: 23 pitchers in the data set were rated 8/6/7.
- Twenty of those were RHP, 3 LHP.
- Combined they pitched 1986 innings, and created a 4.36 ERA
- They combined for 20.1 WAR, though 5 of those WAR were Hao Kun, LAS LHP SP
Given that League average ERA is 4.4, that's about right.

Re: BBA Pitcher Ratings
In other words, starters are better pitchers on average, except that relievers have better stuff.

Re: BBA Pitcher Ratings
I'm amazed that stuff is that low. I only have 2 pitchers on my 40 with stuff lower then 9. Generally when I see a pitcher below 8 I won't even consider them. Maybe my own scope got out of whack by the way I value players.

Re: BBA Pitcher Ratings
I'm pretty sure that most of the guys with a MO of 4 or lower are all in Madison.

This is so cool. Thanks for sharing. It really helps me understand the league a lot better. I just thought Edmonton was missing any high movement pitchers then I was just starting to learn how depleted the league is in the area.

OOTP made a change from 18 to 19 that knocked down pretty much all pitchers MOVcrobillard wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:02 pmThis is so cool. Thanks for sharing. Hmm interesting...the ratings are expected to normalize at some point probably several seasons from now though?Lane wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:09 pmOOTP made a change from 18 to 19 that knocked down pretty much all pitchers MOVcrobillard wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:02 pmThis is so cool. Re: BBA Pitcher Ratings
I wouldn't think so. I believe they changed how MOV was calculated/displayed so I think this is the new normal. Ron may know better though.crobillard wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:14 pmHmm interesting...the ratings are expected to normalize at some point probably several seasons from now though?Lane wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:09 pmOOTP made a change from 18 to 19 that knocked down pretty much all pitchers MOVcrobillard wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:02 pmThis is so cool. Re: BBA Pitcher Ratings
Ratings will drift, but how they drift/normalize is hard to predict. That's part of the challenge of being in an online league that shifts versions year-over-year. I try to post ratings compilations every season or two just to give folks a chance to think about it some.
