Trade Analysis Podcast?

Post by Ted » Thu Jan 05, 2017 2:55 pm

Anyone interested in doing this with me? I've never recorded a podcast before, but I could probably figure it out. Frankly, it takes a lot of time to type up those articles (2-3 hours apiece) and I just don't know if I want to do it anymore. I think I/we could discuss all the trades in a LOT less time. We could even have take submissions from GM's who wanted to comment on specific trades and talk about those during the episode. I'd need somebody who is a bit better host than I, as I tend to be boring. Don't want to steal Adam's thunder either. If he wants a piece of this he has first dibs, but I'd like to get something going.

Adam really kinda of started the recent podcasting and was doing a great job with it for awhile. Didn't want to crowd his territory, but he's been a lot less active recently

Not sure if I'd make a good host but I'd be interested.

Adam and I haven't talked about doing one for awhile. And even then we've never done one relating to trades (though I've wanted to - finding time to get together is tougher than you'd think) so I'd say you're in the clear to go ahead and grab it, Ted.

I'd like this a lot. I know it would help me a lot personally hearing some of the veterans of the league explain their thought process on trades.

I'm not much of a host, but I've done a couple podcasts and used to do live sims in some other leagues so I could lend my opinion at some point.

If you are from California, you and I could really put something good out there....I would even be interested if Lane were in...and I'm just kidding, Lane...but not about being interested.

Trades that benefit other teams in my division = bad. Trades that benefit me = good. Analysis complete.

And this is why in division trades are so tough to make. I think at least half the time I've needed a move recently your team has been a good fit and there's no way in hell I'm helping a division rival unless I'm noncompetitive and am getting their prospects.

Plus, the color structure of your avatar is quite appealing. I'm not a vet....so what are you saying?

Well, it looks like there's enough interest to make this work. How about we just plan on a rotating cast of whoever can make it? I'd like to get something done this weekend if anyone can. I'll work on figuring the how to parts (by which I mean asking you guys who have done it before). I think any more than 3 people at once could get messy, four might be manageable.

Totally agree with this. Anytime I've ever done one with more than 3, it was a cluster fuck. I'd like to hear a couple done before I throw my hat in the ring.

Yeah, he's probably more coherent.

I wonder if its easier or harder now to make a trade in division post realignment/expansion. Can't make up my mind.

Easier in practice since #1 and 2 both make the playoffs and you still have WC chances. Just as hard emotionally, though, since everyone in my division is my true born enemy for whom peaceable surrender is not an option to end our long suffering war.

if I can make it, I'd enjoy being on the podcast to explain to everyone where they went wrong on their deals

I'm down to jump onto a podcast (though I don't know how much my opinions benefit said podcast). Not sure I'm a great host or anything, but I did do some podcasts back with the eMLB.

Okay, like I said, I'd like to do something this weekend. It will probably take about an hour to record. We'll be starting with the most recent trades and working backwards as far as we can get (so look at the trades to see if there's one you really want to weigh in on). I live a 3rd shift schedule so we will either have to do morning or late evening. I am free saturday and sunday both morning and evenings. If you can do any of those, send me a pm with blocks of time that work for you. I'l probably just end up picking the two other people who match up best from a schedule standpoint. Those I didn't pick I'll try to get the next time. If there's an overwhelming response, maybe we can do two this weekend. I do expect you to do at least a little research. Most likely when I select people for the "show", I'll assign you a trade or two to have some thoughts on, nothing fancy, just that you know the players involved ahead of time and have an opinion.
