Re: 2042, BBA Draft Chatter
Also generally interesting to see the number of first round picks as a result of both unsigned picks the year prior, and comp picks. Assuming most people sign their players this year--which I expect will happen barring totally unreasonable players--we'll probably see the first round go back to 35-38 players next year.

Re: 2042, BBA Draft Chatter
I got one of each of the first two. Just couldn't bring myself to gamble on a pitcher when I could get a guy with an 8 eye rating and no apparent negatives.

No SS is crazy! Nice to see the "balance" of position depth in R1 flipping and flopping during those four years, though.

There hasn't been a decent hitting shortstop in the draft in a few seasons it seems... lol. Hence TWC signing Wareham this off season.RonCo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 5:24 pmNot sure exactly what it means, but I find it generally interesting to see the way the first round has broken by position over the past few seasons. Tempting to say teams are scouring for pitching, but there's also an element of class quality that goes into it, I'm sure.
As Joe noted in Slack, there is a weighting toward 3B this year, and a distinct lack of much of anything in the middle infield.

There may have one or two... I can't really remember for sure.

ugh, I'm a bonehead. I thought I drafted a shortstop in the first round. But he is just a 9/10/11/11 infielder who is left handed.

I like him still... he'd be zimmer winning first baseman year in and year out who hits over .300/.360

As Doug said, use him at first and you'll have one of the best fielding first basemen of all time who hits a ton ...

Re: 2042, BBA Draft Chatter
yeah. I'm not saying it's a total flop of a pick. If he develops like predicted, he'll be solid starter/borderline all star 1B. But as a SS.... he would be one of the best in the league.
I'm going to try him at shortstop/2B anyway. He's so under developed that he'll need a good 3-4 years in the minors. He'll pick up 1B in no time. So with all that minor league/fall league/spring playing time.... why not throw it against the wall and see what happens. I mean if Chip Saunders can be a lefty catcher, why the heck not?

Re: 2042, BBA Draft Chatter
It seems like the game kills Lefty infielders by giving them a terrible DP rating... but it seems to have missed in this case. It'll all about ratings anyway, so why not play him in the middle infield and see what happens. A lefty shortstop should theoretically make plays up the middle easier... lol.ae37jr wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 12:04 pmyeah. I'm not saying it's a total flop of a pick. It would be the balls deep in the hole between 3rd and short that would be a footwork circus to visualize.Spiccoli wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 12:55 pmIt seems like the game kills Lefty infielders by giving them a terrible DP rating... but it seems to have missed in this case. First draft article is up.

Second might never be up unless there's an HTML generator. It's two or three times the links in that one.

Re: 2042, BBA Draft Chatter
Think I will officially be firing my assistant GM. I pick a 2 way LF/RP in first round. And I guess my assistant gm thought I wanted to do draft every LF available. LOL Unfortunately working nights this week so my sleep and schedule is all messed up. Haven't been able to be on top of this draft as much as I wanted.
