I'm not unhappy with my pick. Picking 16th, I didn't expect to get a future All-Star, but I may have gotten a starting shortstop, or at least a superior major league utility guy.

Yeah Garcia is a nice little pick at #16. He can play 3B, SS. Has some speed. A good eye. Seems to play over his ratings a little. Very nice pick up at that slot.

I absolutely agree that you take the blue chip pitching prospect over the blue chip hitting prospect (unless he is at a key position such as shortstop) 100 percent of the time. In the case of the first pick, I honestly see Murray's lower movement talent and the potential for that to be on the bottom end making him too high a risk for #1. I don't see him as blue chip.

If his 7 talent is actually at the bottom end of the 7 range, it means that a little lump takes him down to an 11 or 12 in movement. Would you still see him as better than Guzman in that case? Of course, if it is on the high end of 7 and turns out to be an 8, he is a Hall of Famer.

It is my feeling that when you have the #1 pick, that is not a place to take a gamble. Especially when you are as bad as we are.

Murray also throws it at 96-98 MPH which is a strain on the arm. He missed 3 weeks last season with an elbow sprain. So hes a risk for injury. His college BABIP numbers are pretty high also. His career BABIP in college was .335. And thats probably because of the lack of movement again. He K's a lot of guys but when they make contact they hit him pretty hard.

So I can see what Long Beach is saying. When you add the fact that Guzman is a lefty that might top out at 10 power vs. righties I can understand the pick.

Best bargain so far: Hal O'Keefe. I was considering him at #16.

I hope you are right. I was really happy to see him sitting there in the 2nd round. He has a lot of raw power which I hope can develop with time. Just hope his K's aren't WAY too high.

I'm really happy to get Alex Sanchez at pick 55. I was considering him with my supplemental pick. I think people were turned off by the infield error rating but I'm hoping that will improve. The range and arm is good and he actually won a gold glove last season.
