GM Change, Tokyo Pearls

Post by recte44 » Thu Oct 26, 2023 3:57 pm

Once again, a big thank you to Sean Marko who steps right in every time we need a Tokyo temporary GM. Hopefully, this will be the last time for a minute. Please welcome Renato Umali as the new GM with the best logo in the Brewster!

Perhaps it was Renato Umali's musings about Montreal Expo's memoir "Slugging It Out in Japan"? Or the fact that his free-to-play Perfect Team is named after favorite anime Ouran High School Host Club? Or maybe the league officials noticed that Umali organized an outing to American Family Field to watch MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani, the game in which the Angel crushed the highest flying home run (162 feet) since Statcast started tracking the stat.

Whatever the reason, Renato Umali has been selected as the new General Manager for the Tokyo Pearls!

"Indeed it's the best logo in Brewster," Umali said at the presser. "But I'd be honored even if the logo were a kid's drawing of a chicken wing on a string. To just become a part of the GBC is every manager's dream. Thank you. Arigato. Y'know what I'm saying?"

When asked for his reaction, Huang Cheng, the Pearl's popular closer, replied tersely: "Nandemo." This loosely translates to: "Whatever."

Not sure who Shohei Ohtani is or the MLB, but sounds like a cool fictional league.
