2056 New Roster Requirement

In an effort to continue building an environment of competitiveness, teams at all levels need to field playable teams. Effective immediately, all teams must carry at least 11 pitchers on their rosters. From BBA level all the way down to Rookie ball. If your team is falling short, start filling your minors with pitchers in free agency and draft pitchers heavily. This is all in an effort to field a competitive team, per the Constitution.

I like it. Will the game enforce this requirement?

Don't think game will enforce it, but it's part of the Constitution of fielding a competitive team. So be diligent that your rosters are right. It's 5 SP and 6 RP, which most teams already have.

Thank you all for instituting this.

Hmm... roster minimums and age limits. Is this an unemployment service for 20 POT scrubs?

BRB, gotta go sign some minor league welfare queens I guess.

For the time being, the minors is the only place I may be competitive. Damn straight I'm fielding a full staff! πŸ˜€

I assume this doesn't apply for short A or R in the off season, right?

Good change although I hope it isn't too labor intensive to enforce

Doesn’t apply in off-season.

Dont worry though, those young guys will develop better against those 20 POT 19yo scrubs than your 35yo 30 POT has-beens you would usually have in A ball.

I'd imagine this doesn't apply until waivers settle at the end of April, right? There's plenty to sort out before this is really enforceable.

I think this rule is going to be a softly governed rule. Like if you have 10 pitchers for a sim or two, nobody is going to care. But if you have 2 pitchers, you'll probably get a couple of warnings then a stiff punishment.

Gimme some credit lol. Toledo was usually full of 45,50,55 POT guys lol.

Hey, so I was thinking, and you know what REALLY doesn't work together? The new roster requirement and very restrictive roster standards. If the whole point is to start retiring meaningless players, then we start loading meaningless pitchers onto our rosters, that's a total paradox.

That turns this from a pain in the ass to just plain annoying, and not in a good, enjoyable, gameplay type of way - more like in a "I have to search every free agent to try to get bad pitchers of a VERY precise age on my roster so I'm not in violation."

Would it be better to have your backup 2B throw 4 innings giving up 16 ER? This rule was created to give less gray area in the "field a competitive team" portion of the Constitution. What team wouldn't carry more than four pitchers? It will likely raise the stock of 16 y/o pitchers in the draft, though. Better than another 25 POT DH.

5 minor league teams x 11 pitchers = 55 pitchers
55 * 32 = 1760 pitchers
That's a lot of pitchers to have restrictive age requirements for.
I rest my case.

To put this another way, I just looked at the free agent list.

Sorted by <27 and 30 overall or higher.

Here is the entire list of players that fits: Isikeli Alohalani, Khayyat bin Nasir al Din, and Henry Gibb.

That's three pitchers who fit into the AA requirements who might be worthy of AA.
