IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING MiLB AGE LIMITS COMING FOR THE START OF THE 2055 SEASON.

The GB has been discussing age limits for our Minors in the Brewster over the past few seasons, and we have decided to implement the following game enforced limits at each level.

• * Rookie Ball - 21yo

• * Short A - 23yo

• * A - 25yo

• * AA - 27yo

• * AAA - no age restriction

This rule will be enforced at the start of the 2055 season, giving all GMs two full drafts (2053 & 2054) to get their MiLB age restrictions met. If you still have a player above the age limits in the 2055 season, the program will let you know you have a roster violation and let you know the player, so you an adjust before exporting.

FINALLY! One of the things that has mystified me since joining this league is the lack of age limits. I don't know if this has any affect, but I've been thinking, "How can my 18-year-old in SA develop when he's facing teams with an average age of 28 years old?"

Could we have some deeper drafts at the 30-40 potential range to help create an exciting minors again and to feed the teams?

I wholeheartedly agree with this board decision.

It’ll take a bit but this will help that. Guys stuck in the free agent pool will retire so the average age of free agents will start to drop and so on and so forth. Might be weirdly thin that first couple years though but people have time to plan now.

just for clarification, can we have players at the stated age for each level, or once they hit that age are they considered overage (much like 20 yo for IC)?

If the age limit is 21 for Rookie ball then when the player turns 22 the game will let you know he will need to be promoted.

Is this where suggestion goes? Can we add a few more draft rounds and a higher proportion high school to ensure that this is relatively easy to do without micro level FA hunting?

Minor league filling is a pain at the best of times because you fire in offers, game advances two months, and you get some but not others. Transforming that to a system where a % have to be under 21 (how do they even end up in FA? Undrafted?) might ask us to use a hammer to crack a nut.

Great change. I'd probably up R level to 22 and SA to 24 personally, but that's a minor gripe. Some guys may be 'old' for their level on draft day and it may be bad to force them up mid-season. Overall this is a good direction and the rest feels pretty lenient and realistic.

I agree w/ the above comments about increasing draft length to get more youth into the system so there's (potentially) more worthwhile players to fill out rosters with.

But little Johnny isn't a player ... he's a batboy! *wink* *wink*

Totally on board with the rule change.

From a personal standpoint. I have a bad habit of signing a bunch of AAA players during the winter. Then when opening day hits, I just kinda put the excess players in "extended spring training" aka S-A as injury depth till their season starts. This would be fine if it's a couple or 5 players. But sometimes it can be more like 20-30.

Just looked at my system

A - 16 guys overage
AA - 7 guys

I didn't look at SA or R since they haven't started play yet, but I know a lot of guys I signed to minor league contracts got dumped in SA. I knew I had to do some cleaning in my system, but didn't realize how bad it had gotten. Again, I like the rule.

Will the game be able to govern this rule or will the commissioner have to patrol it? Also how long will we have to make a correction if we miss a guy?

I like the idea of the rule though.

It’s the same as when you export and OOTP tells you that an IC players is 20 and needs to be promoted.

@CTBrewCrew Can't recall if this was answered elsewhere, but does this future rule also apply to the GBC's minors?

As far as I can tell, the GBC has been "devalued" of sorts, it practically IS the minors now.
