*** UPDATE COMP PICKS RULES 2053 ***
….other than that, how did you like the play Mrs. Lincoln? Did something happen today while i was watching my kids last legion game?
In all seriousness down to the matter at hand…
Once again we are making a slight tweek to the current competitive balance pick selection process to help move the needle towards where we want comp picks to go.
Starting with the 2053 comp pick determination - if your team qualified for the playoffs in the previous season (i.e. 2052) regardless of what level of player you lose - you WILL NOT receive any comp picks in the upcoming draft.
This helps in few ways
1) continues to help streamline the overall process of determining comp pick - eliminating the need to determine level or track players lost from playoff teams.
2) it helps the competitive balance picks go towards those teams that need them more (non playoff teams)
3) Speeds up the draft.
Thanks
Any questions let us know…and once again we thank you for your support

I know there’s no perfect answer to anti-tanking, but doesn’t this just create more incentive to tank? Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine not having a comp pick if I’m playoff team, but my thoughts are bottom teams will continue not re-signing impact players so they can get draft picks and continue living in the cellar.CTBrewCrew wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 7:57 pm2) it helps the competitive balance picks go towards those teams that need them more (non playoff teams)
I don’t have a solution, just my thoughts.

Re: *** UPDATE COMP PICKS RULES 2053 ***
Usually those "bottom teams" dont have the cap space or budget flexibility that playoff teams tend to have. (With exceptions, of course.) Or maybe the player says, I dont want to play in the crap-hole of Charlotte (happened to me in the early days) and wont sign. Let's give it a chance, and if it doesnt work, we probably go to zero comp picks for everyone.
3 teams dont even have budgets that are higher than the cap. Another 9 teams are at $122M or less for a budget. Makes it very hard to sign those stud players at their current demands.

Good point. Part of me hopes that all teams would be striving to get better. The GB does continue to monitor for blatant tanking.Dington wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 9:22 amI know there’s no perfect answer to anti-tanking, but doesn’t this just create more incentive to tank? Re: *** UPDATE COMP PICKS RULES 2053 ***
I'm good either way. my personal preference is whatever makes it easier for the people running the sims.
Since they are additional picks and not "lost" picks, in theory teams should not be deciding whether or not to sign based on the pick status I would hope. I never liked the idea of losing a pick for signing a player for that reason. Gives me less incentive to immediately improve the team.

Re: *** UPDATE COMP PICKS RULES 2053 ***
While I do totally understand this, some of us might have made trades on the basis that we'd hoped comp picks would be coming if I couldn't resign (Turner, McKinley)
Could we not start from next year?
No worries if not.

You dont get Comp Picks if they are traded in-season anyway.

I would say "he is good enough of course he will", but I got burned by Jared gillstrom (arguably a top 10 all timer) in that same situation...bschr682 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 11:40 amLol only if he signs soon enough…usnspecialist wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 2:15 pmI guess I will get comp picks now if wullenweber opts out wo yay I guess?
