So my boss resigned...

Post by tylertoo » Sun Aug 14, 2022 6:41 pm

...and her boss asked me to serve as interim while they post my boss's position. I said, no, I'm qualified, give me my boss's job permanently. My boss's boss said, no, can't do that, gotta post the position and go through the formal process.

So now I'm the interim, which means I do my boss's job AND my job while they go through the freakin' job posting process, during which I will apply for the job that I'm doing in addition to my own job. Then, if I get my boss's job, I will then have to fill my job, which means another period of doing both jobs. I'm pretty fed up with how this played out, so I'm also going to start looking elsewhere, which, uh, also takes time.

That's a long-winded way of saying I need to step away from the league as I enter a 2-4 month period (or longer) of doubled work load. Now, as we enter the post season, is the best time for a changeover.

Thanks to Matt and the GB, and all the great GMs who make this league the best in OOTP-land. And my apologies to the next Chicago GM for leaving the club in its sorry state. Certainly not ruling out coming back at some point, and I may still hang out on Discord for the 9th grade banter!

So I am beginning to think I am cursing this league. First Aaron, now you, right after I get put in charge of Louisville!

Come back when things free up, Tyler....

I'm facing somewhat of a similar situation myself. But I'll only tone back my writing (which is already suffering) rather than depart from the league. I've been filling in as Assistant Principal at my high school the past 2 weeks while we await the hiring of a new one (possibly me assuming I want it).

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Actually, I do hope to hang around and follow the action, and might even try to contribute a league feature now and then. I love the writing, just don't have time to actually run a team.

Good luck to all in '52!

So... I'm back. Sooner rather than later!

I pretty quickly had pangs of regret about leaving a week ago. As noted above, the move was driven by the workplace turmoil, and I probably should have given that RL stuff more time to play out.

On the job front, I finished my first week of doing two jobs and while it was tough, it wasn't horrible. I've gone from having a staff of two to a staff of seven and I've basically decided to just delegate the shit out of a lot of the things on my plate. In other words, I realized I don't have to take it all on myself, and that others can help step up. And they are, without complaint. So its a bit more manageable than I first feared. I just have to, uh, be a manager.

So, never mind, sorry for the drama, and thanks to @Lane and the GB for not giving away Chicago!

I imagine you managing your staff similar to how you handled communications with Phil Tsafento, and have no doubt you'll excel in your new role.
