Participation Reminders

Hi Fellas-
It's been really, really quiet this year. I'm not full on concerned yet, just ready to give everyone a little nudge.
Team News - I'm one of the culprits here. There are a ton of teams who haven't had Team News in over a month, several without a single Team News this year (not a misprint). Let's go!!!
Forums vs Discord: Discord is nice and all but don't forget the Forums are the life blood of the league. I know folks can get discouraged if they write stuff and get no responses; that's why we started giving PP for Forum Posts. So let's get back on it- me included.
Thanks fellas!

Can we blame @RonCo?

Absolutely not. Ron's not responsible for what the rest of the league does.
Everyone would have to go a long way to catch up to what Ron's done writing-wise for the league other than maybe me.

So sorry -- I was just kidding but my lame humor fell flat. Ron sets the standard for participation, one I'll certainly never reach.

Iβve been less involved too. Staying too busy with HS baseball at the moment.

It's completely fair to "blame" me. I've been pretty danged distant. Things are getting better, but at the same time getting...um...busy in more ways, too. I should probably write a note on it...will do in a sec.

This discussion has me re-thinking my team news.
I don't post that many because I feel like each one has to be a home run, something special that'll prompt replies, something clever and witty. And the result is limited output. Recently, though, I've been looking at the GMs who do regular TNs that are simply straightforward updates like local fans would read in their hometown papers. And it (belatedly) occurs to me that writing these type of TNs may not win Caleca awards, but they help a GM really get to know their team. For instance @Jwalk100's regular sim recaps are probably a great way to pay close attention to every box score -- which honestly I rarely do.
So I'm going to try increasing quantity of TNs with some small ball, no more swinging for the fences.

It's true- we miss you. A lot.
Doesn't mean someone else couldn't start doing larger features and podcasts.

Not a single ounce of blame should be on your shoulders. Your work is missed, but isnβt a reason for anyone to lower production. I was hoping to have some fun with you with McNeill, but Iβve put that on hold and itβs my fault I havenβt created any other material. Iβve been stuck in a creative rut for awhile. Hope to pick it up.

Goodness, I feel terrible about using the b-word toward Ron. It was meant purely in jest but I failed to make that clear, that's on me. I agree with all that if deserves a pass on this, it is Ron, who sets the gold standard on participation. My bad.

If your grandma bakes you delicious chocolate chip cookies every time you come over, when you come over and she doesn't have them, your first thought is, "Hey...where are my cookies, dammit!". Ron has been supplying us with delicious content for so long that when we don't get it for a while, we really miss it, even though empirically we know that he, like everyone else, is going to have life get in the way occasionally. We all look forward to more from Ron when he can; till then maybe some of the rest of us could bake a little more than we have been.
(I could do the same analogy with heroin instead of cookies, but I decided to take the high road...)

I want cookies now thanks. And isnβt heroin the βhighβ road?

No worries. I took your original comment as pure sarcasm.
Also, I want heroin cookies.
