GM Change, Des Moines Kernels

Post by recte44 » Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:33 pm

Geoff let me know today that he's stepping away from the BBA at this time. He'll certainly be missed.

To fill the GM job in Des Moines, we are installing Aaron Weiner as the new boss of the Kernels.

We will look to the UMEBA for the next GM of Rockville.

Sorry to see another GM depart, but it going to be fun watching Aaron take this on. With the #2 farm system in the league, I say playoffs in 3 seasons or less.

That’s a bold move Cotton…….

But one I like. Aaron moving to Des Moines gives him a fresh start and a new project. Why I left Madison for Portland

I like the move. Parity is starting to slip a little with 4-5 teams drifting to the abyss.

It looks like the Heartland may soon become what people have been falsely saying it was for the past 15 seasons. :P

Ugh. Just what the Heartland needed. None of those 14 year streaks @aaronweiner allowed.

Well, Des Moines is actually on three of them right now.

When I was in the UMEBA, I looked at the most downtrodden teams in the BBA and sketched out plans in the event I landed there. I tossed the notes for other clubs after I got a team, but I'm pretty sure Step 1 for Des Moines was "Relocate Club".

Good luck. Rebuilding in place will be a tall order, but I guess that was the attraction.

It would be a good decision, but I decided it didn’t count if I didn’t do it in Des Moines.

Des Moines is OG 1973. Not sure how a relocation of the Kernels would go over! haha

You could just change the town's name to De Moine and eliminate the silent 's' in a cost-cutting move. Think of the money you'll save on uniforms!

Anyway, good luck Aaron. Quite the challenge.
