Re: Important Draft Rules Change
I'm guessing there's a story behind the ban on Trading Draft Picks.
I suppose there's worse ways to wreck a franchise than several backloaded FA contracts....
And involves excessive trading of future draft picks

Ding!! We have a winner!!!
If you thought what Ted did to Twin Cities was bad, add the ability to trade draft picks to the mix. Yikes.

Re: Important Draft Rules Change
What about if its limited to the current draft's draft picks? Say, something like trading the #10 pick down to Ron for the #29 (he had a bad season) pick and a player? Or, trading Randy's 1st round pick for Lane's 1st and 3rd? Nothing involving future drafts.

Re: Important Draft Rules Change
Trading of draft picks and the success or trashing of an organization and then bolting generally revolves around the set of GM's in the league. Being able to trade only draft picks in the current/upcoming (depending on timing) draft does limit the potential damage that can be done to a franchise going forward. I'm neither for or against it. I've seen it work well and I've seen what Matt is afraid will happen.
Regarding compensation picks, I wish there were none and I wish that zero picks carried over when GMs don't sign their drafted players. That can be just as damaging, especially when these drafts are so shallow.
