I'm issuing a challenge!!!

Let me preface this by saying that I'm certainly not rolling in the dough, nor do I expect any of you to make the financial commitment that I do each season...but I will however issue a challenge.
Each year, I buy an extra copy of the game and issue a free license to someone I know who would be a good fit to the league or someone who is having difficulty seeing their way clear to buying the game to be a part of our league.
My challenge to each of you is to come up with one person you know, whether it be a friend who loves baseball, someone from another league, etc. who you think would be a great fit for our league.
This is a good league for OOTP Newbies as we do have a structure in place to help them along. Granted, the structure hasn't worked perfectly lately, but I think we can make it a priority to do so.
If even half of you bring in one new guy, we've come up with 12 new GM candidates.
I can tell you that having some of my real life friends in the league (Brad, Jeff) really makes it much more enjoyable. When we get together we talk about the normal friend stuff (family, real sports, politics, etc...) but we always end up having talks about the MBWBA. This makes it much more tangible, and much more enjoyable.
So, find a friend who you know is a baseball junkie. Someone or something once got you hooked on this game. Let's use this approach to help solve the membership vacuum!

Well, honestly, one of the reasons I got into online leagues in the first place is a LACK of like-minded people around me. My friends aren't really into sports or fantasy leagues that much save Ethan Baker, whose only time would have to be in the five hours he's sleeping a night.
So I'm a wash.

I'm in the same boat as Aaron. My friends who are sports fans aren't geeks enough to really appreciate baseball...much less participate in fantasy or sim leagues. My geek friends aren't sports fans.

I'm 69 and have only a few local friends. None of them are into either computers or baseball.
Most of of my friends back in Boston are also not into computers at all.
I had previously asked a couple of them to try simulated baseball and none showed the least bit of interest.
I do have one friend that is a Football Manager nut that did try OOTP and didn't like it.
On the other hand, Matt, I could help you financially by buying a license for someone or contributing toward your costs for whatever services you use to run the league. PM me about that if you want.
Also, after many pain pills, TENS treatments, and an epidural steroid injection, my sciatica pain is under control.
I am ready and willing to run sims whenever you want.

Matt, are you expecting us to have a number of "MBBA" vacancies next season? If so, I will turn the pressure on some friends to try and fill one of the 24 main squads...

I had a guy a few years back that was real interested in joining the ORB2 who had never heard of simulation baseball. I may see if I can get him interested in fictional baseball as well. I have another buddy that used to play in these leagues, but he never had the time or much interest in doing the writing aspect.

I have answered your challenge by convincing Spitulski to come back.
Er, on second thought that may not be what you had in mind. Sorry in advance!!!

I just got back from DC and have this morn emailed more than a dozen of my yahoo fantasy baseball fellow fanatics. All of them in one of two leagues that I run, so I know they are quality folks...

I'm thinking of returning - its just my work is so sporadic - I'm either running at 150% or 35%...let me know if you want me to fill a spot somewhere.
