Type A Starting Pitchers: 4.3 WAR
Type B Starting Pitchers: 3.1 WAR

Relievers (S2 for now): 1.0 WAR

Hmm...I assumed hitter WAR would be down this year. Looks like WAR has increased for compensation all around.

You know with the RP explosion the last few season, we may have to go back to A comp for the top guys.

@aaronweiner if you apply the formula to RP’s like you do for other players, what would comp A WAR be?

It used to be the top 10%. So that would be about 1.6 or 1.7 WAR.

If there's an exception I'd make, it's this: if a reliever qualifies as a Type A starting pitcher, we should do that as an S1.

Up until recently the idea of that was absurd.

Someone mind helping me wrap my head around how the compensation threshold is calculated? It’s close enough that it’ll make a big difference for me. I understand it as the top 14% of players in WAR, but is it just straight total WAR for all players (separated by pitchers and position players)? The constitution said it’s divided by position so that gets me even more confused haha. If anyone can walk me through it I would appreciate it.

It's WAR for all position players with at least one PA.

It's WAR for all pitchers with at least one G.

It's separated by SP and RP.

FYI, as mentioned by Chris, the Constitution should be updated if it's not broken down by position just so everyone's on the same page.

If he meets the minimums then yes (also assuming he doesn't sign in UMEBA).
