Sigh, hope his family can find peace.

Love the Ed Murphy GM award. Would also like to change the name of the Kernels stadium to Ed Murphy Memorial Stadium (or park) if people are cool with that.
 They say it don't be like it is, but it do!

Very sad. Hate to hear this.

I’ve been in these online leagues for close to 20 years. I believe this is the first death of a current or former GM

Rest In Peace Ed. Thoughts and prayers to the family. I was fortunate enough to have spent some time with him at a Brewer game. He will be missed.

He was a good dude, wouldn’t hurt a fly. Had the pleasure of working with him for 10 years. Our love of baseball brought us together. Coaxed him into joining when Des Moines opened up. Always enjoyed talking BBA and MLB with him. He’ll be missed for sure.

No age at all, he should have been looking at 20+ more years watching his grandkids grow up, maybe even see his great grandchildren.

I used to be in a league where one of the then current GM's died suddenly. It was a hard time as his son also played in the league. He was a nice gentle bloke who was very religious and used to post a bible quote on slack everyday, it was a hard time.
The PEBA had a former manager die in it's early days too, I think he was one of three brothers that had all left the league by this time, bit scketchy here as it was before my time in the league

If there's any hesitancy by the GB to naming the GM Award after Ed (which I'd be for, by the way), another option would be to name one of the leagues after him to give Ed a lasting BBA presence: the sub-leagues in the Drake are just called Sub-League 1 and Sub-League 2. Naming one of them after Ed would seem to be a major step up ...

Well this is terrible news, not at all what I was hoping to see when I logged on this morning. His family will be in my prayers.

The Governing Board has spoken about this and we feel that a Des Moines based honorarium makes much more sense. With that, an announcement will be forthcoming.
