Resignation Letter
To whom this concerns,
The Hubbard deal was a mistake, and I apologize. Got a genius idea that I accidentally ran through the Commish account, which, if I didn't, would have surely spit back at me that my owner rejected it. It wasn't on purpose and I'm sorry it happened.
I surely shouldn't continue as Vice Commissioner, and I also feel that my resignation would do various things for me, like save me 80 pages of writing a year and hopefully save the Des Moines franchise from penalties and other problematic things.
This is a Danny Glover moment. I'm too old for this shit.
Thanks for the memories.
Aaron

Mistakes happen @aaronweiner. No big deal. No reason for a knee-jerk reaction.

Re: Resignation Letter
This is certainly disappointing. As someone who has been around (about) the same amount of time as you - its been a fun road. I don't really fully know what happened here - but its not relevant to me. This is a big loss. Sorry to see you go. You will be missed greatly around these parts.

Re: Resignation Letter
If only it were.
I've been playing simulated fantasy baseball in some form or another for 25 years, well more than half my life. I've devoted a ton of time and effort and energy to it. I've worked as hard or harder than anyone longer than I can remember to do my very best.
Cal Ripken retired. Nolan Ryan retired. I'm retiring. I don't have the patience to bounce back from this, I don't have the will, and I don't have the desire. It's been fading for a while. This was the straw that broke the camel's back, not the reason.
It's not impossible I'll pull a Tom Brady - he's a year older than me - but like him, I'm ready for something else.
I won't be a total stranger.

Sorry to read this.
Hoping that fire gets rekindled sooner rather than later for you and you can come back with renewed enthusiasm.
The league will be the poorer without your contributions. No question.

Jeez a fella steps away for vacation for a bit….
. Seriously I loved having you in the league. I think you made us all better GMs. I you need to step away I respect your decision. As others have said - your always welcome back.

Re: Resignation Letter
The Hubbard deal wasn't a big issue, obviously just an oversight. I hope you didn't take it as an attack. You're a great GM and hope you come back.

If this is real, can we at least go back and make Des Moines suck again?

Re: Resignation Letter
More of an embarrassment. It's not an attack if it's totally fair, and at any rate had I stayed I would have surely resigned as VC. It's my status as VC and my own carelessness that made that problem possible.
It's not why I'm retiring. Like, you've probably heard this from a million retiring athletes but I just don't have it in me at this point, and I have a ton of other things I'm working on right now.

Re: Resignation Letter
Damn. I regret even noticing it now and commenting. I didn’t know there was wrong doing behind it and liked the timing of sneaking a signing in when most wouldn’t.

Re: Resignation Letter
Might be still new here but you just quickly learn who are the most dedicated GMs and the big assets to this league as Mike mentioned. The league will miss you although I do fully understand that after so many years, one might need a break.
Don't want to go into too much details but what exactly went down or what was wrong? Just so others won't make the same mistake. I just offered guys a 2052 contract but am wondering now if this is still legal?

Aaron provided more details earlier in the thread, I think third or fourth post.KVDPoorten wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 6:48 pmMight be still new here but you just quickly learn who are the most dedicated GMs and the big assets to this league as Mike mentioned. As for your contacts offered as long as the offer is legal per our constitution then you're fine.

Re: Resignation Letter
My apologies if my joke added any fuel to the fire. I didn't think this situation would be a big deal. Des Moines should only be on the hook for the cap penalty as there was already a precedence set early this season about mistakes made in comish mode.
