Moscow GM Mike Bauer is currently enjoying a rebound season of sorts with his currently 22-16 Thunder Bears. Searching for ways to help keep the momentum going, the man who once originated an Eddie Money tribute concert once again decided to tap into his musical interests as a way to help motivate the fans and players.
With a 13-game home stretch on the horizon, Bauer decided to pay homage to a favorite metal band of his, but not one that would be too harsh or heavy for mainstream attendees. Thus the call was made to pay homage to the mighty Deftones.
"I've been a fan of the band since the late 90's," explained Bauer. "Deftones didn't pique my interest initially, but that all changed with the White Pony album and the hit single Change (In The House of Flies). The song had an epic feel to it that immediately caused me to reevaluate Deftones. It became a staple on many of my playlists on my iPod. Yes I know I'm really dating myself referring to the ancient device. Another milestone album is 2025's Private Music. What an absolute gem and one of my very favorites."
The iconic band reached the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2031, and concluded their 40-year career in 2035 with their farewell album and tour Last Out. Their career included 13 remarkable albums, each of which will be celebrated on its own game night accoring to the following schedule:
Tuesday May 13 vs London - Adrenaline (1995)
Wednesday May 14 vs London - Around the Fur (1997)
Thursday May 15 vs London - White Pony (2000)
Saturday May 17 vs Sydney - Deftones (self-titled) (2003)
Sunday May 18 vs Sydney - Saturday Night Wrist (2006)
Monday May 19 vs Sydney - Diamond Eyes (2010)
Tuesday May 20 vs Athens - Koi No Yokan (2012)
Wednesday May 21 vs Athens - Gore (2016)
Thursday May 22 vs Athens - Ohms (2020)
Friday May 23 vs Athens - Private Music (2025)
Saturday May 24 vs Tokyo - Quiver (2028)
Sunday May 25 vs Tokyo - White Horse (2032)
Monday May 26 vs Tokyo - Last Out (2035)
"Chino and Stephen won't be able to join us in Moscow, but we have a few recorded video messages we'll be presenting from them. We'll be celebrating Saturday Night Wrist on a Sunday, but otherwise we'll make it work. We think it'll be great. Humble brag, I've managed to turn some of our young players onto the band. There's nothing like getting in batting cage work with My Own Summer blasting through the speakers. The Deftones go with baseball - a variety of moods, but always great atmosphere, great flow. Really gets you in the zone."

I've been on a real White Pony kick the last couple weeks so this title got a chuckle out of me.
My favorite non-White Pony album is Diamond Eyes. I often wish my pitchers had more CMND/CTRL.
